Film Notes and Highlights

I have been a fan of Cade Stover even though he has not been utilized in Ohio State’s scheme as much the past two years. In watching the tape, I saw a lot of the receiving potential I had seen before – but his blocking is very inconsistent.

When Stover gets his hands on defenders he is good at staying engaged. However, if he does not recognize the correct assignment quickly he can get beat. When he does win at first block contact he is good at getting to the second level.

As a route runner, I would like to see more crisp routes. However, he has a good burst off the line and great hands for contested catches. I think Stover can be a very good receiving tight end at the next level. With learning better blocking technique, he could be a good starting tight end in the NFL. – Brandon Haye
