Film Notes and Highlights

Cody Shrader moved up to Missouri as a walk-on and really took the main running back role in 2023. He was super productive with over 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns. Schrader is not necessarily the flashiest running back but he has a good combination of speed and power. He is not the biggest back either, but breaks arm tackles and uses his speed to get outside especially on zone plays. He is shifty and shows great burst to quickly get through the line and move up field.

If there are not open holes sometimes he will dance behind the line and gets swallowed up by penetration. Schrader is a willing blocker but needs to be coached up on technique because he is inconsistent in that area. He was used mostly as outlet receiver but has good hands and uses his shiftiness to avoid defenders for extra yards. Schrader is likely a day three player but I could see him having a role with an offense and his toughness could get him more play as the season goes on.
