Film Notes and Highlights
Jaden Hicks was a streaky player at Washington State. At times, he was unstoppable, demonstrating great coverage skills, instinct, and pursuit. Other times, he looked lost, lacked effort, and over pursued. In coverage, there are times when Hicks completely takes an offensive player out of the concept. However, he also has a tendency of getting knocked off of his spot or delayed on contact points on receiver stems. With that said, he shows good ability in intermediate coverage situations and at the catch point.
In run support, Jaden Hicks always tries to find a way to make contact with the ball carrier. However, he really struggles to shed blocks. Against Oregon State, he was routinely blocked out of plays by wide receivers. At times he shows great instinct, but often over pursues towards ball carrier and puts himself in awkward tackling positions. Currently I believe Jaden Hicks is a Day 3 player, but if he can get it all together he could be a draft steal. – Thomas Christopher
