Film Notes and Highlights
Kool-Aid McKinstry is a good press man cornerback. He’s handsy (which could get him in trouble in the NFL) and uses the boundary as his friend on against 9 routes. He has good speed and is not often beaten deep. His hip fluidity is adequate, but at times he can be beat by quick twitch players. In zone coverage, at times McKinstry can be seen covering grass instead of his receiver. It can lead to wide receivers breaking past his zone for easy completions.
Kool-Aid McKinstry is almost non-existent in the running game. He shows little effort attempting to shed blocks or make tackles unless he’s the only player around. He is a liability in this regard and needs to be coached up. Although I believe he’s a Day 1 prospect due to his man coverage abilities, there are still things to work on. – Thomas Christopher
