Film Notes and Highlights
Maason Smith’s burst off the line is the first thing you notice on film. He will beat everyone off of the line for the entirety of the game. Smith has a great swim move, but his bull rush is inconsistent due to his propensity to play at a high pad level. Because of that, he struggles to maintain leverage and get off his block – especially in the run game. Despite the occasional loss, it doesn’t affect his motor. Maason Smith will regularly stay with the play, even if it includes chasing a ball carrier 10+ yards. He’s a streaky player, but when he gets hot, he becomes a force to be reckoned with. He’s a raw talent with solid tangibles that should be a late Day 2 pick. – Thomas Christopher
