Film Notes and Highlights
Malik Mustapha is a fast, downhill safety who works better in the box. He’s instinctual in the run game and has good pre-snap play recognition. However, his lack of discipline causes him to overshoot gaps and take himself out of plays.
In the passing game, Mustapha is a complete liability. Far too often he turns his hips to one side of the field, completely negating any ability to make plays to the side of the field where his back is turned. He does not have the hip fluidity to adjust if the ball is thrown to his back side. In zone coverage he allows too many plays to get behind him when playing deep safety. In man coverage, he does not have the skill to keep up with wide receivers. And against tight ends, he gets manhandled. Right now I have a Day 3 grade on Malik Mustapha. – Thomas Christopher
