Film Notes and Highlights
Nate Wiggins is a speedy cornerback. He performs well in man coverage, understanding his leverage points on the boundary as well as playing the ball (and the receiver when he can’t get his head turned). At times he can get handsy, but does not often hold to draw a flag. He has excellent start/stop speed and can mirror receivers with relative ease. However, Wiggins is not a physical cornerback. He will not play aggressively when in press coverage, and can get bullied for separation at times. He also seems to have difficult with wide receivers who have great acceleration coming out of their breaks.
While Nate Wiggins is not a great run supporting cornerback, he does play with a lot of effort. Against North Carolina he made a touchdown-saving forced fumble after chasing the running back over 50 yards. That kind of effort will make coaches love him. – Thomas Christopher
