Film Notes and Highlights

Trey Benson is not the flashiest back but can do everything well. He has excellent hands and can run more than check down routes out of the backfield. At times he does not show great burst through the line, but has plenty of speed to take it the distance. This was shown at the NFL Combine with his excellent 40-yard dash time. I think it just takes a little extra for his acceleration to really show up on film.

Trey Benson is not afraid of contact and will put his head down for the tough yards. Sometimes his power is inconsistent in breaking arm tackles. I do not see a ton of wiggle from him, so I think he is a little limited in his ability to avoid or shake defenders. With that said, he does have a good balance to take contact and continue moving. Benson needs more overall consistency but I think he is a three-down back that could become a great starter in the NFL. – Brandon Haye
