Broncos’ Tim Patrick Suffers Achilles Injury; Colts’ Zack Moss Breaks Arm

As if there have not been enough injuries in the NFL this offseason, Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in training camp on Monday.

Another concerning injury hit the Indianapolis Colts running back room, as Zack Moss suffered a broken arm. With the Jonathan Taylor drama coming to a head, the Colts will hope for a quick recovery for Moss.

It’s tough to say which injury will affect their teams more, but the severity of each is far different.

Tim Patrick is expected to miss the entire season, following an ACL injury that cost him the 2022-23 season.

Zach Moss’ broken arm will cost him roughly six weeks, although he might be back before then.

Tim Patrick – Denver Broncos

After suffering a season-ending ACL injury last season, Patrick was expected to be an added bonus to the Broncos’ receiving corps. When on the field, Patrick can produce with the best of them. However, injuries are keeping him off the field. This has been problematic for both Patrick and the team, as he is a big target at 6’4″.

While Patrick has never recorded double-digit touchdown receptions in a season, his size would have been a welcome addition to the roster this year. Russell Wilson’s struggle last season — the absence of Patrick likely didn’t help — and having a big target might have helped alleviate some of Wilson’s turnovers.

Could Patrick’s career be in jeopardy with two straight missed seasons? Possibly, but at this point, it will be all mental when he finally does come back onto the field.

Zack Moss – Indianapolis Colts

Zack Moss spent the majority of his young career with the Buffalo Bills prior to being traded last season to the Colts. He was expected to have a bigger role this season. However, a broken arm will now cost him roughly six weeks. This comes on the heels of running back Jonathan Taylor requesting a trade amidst Colts’ owner Jim Irsay’s comments.

The Colts running back room is currently in shambles, but they still have second-year running back Deon Jackson and rookie Evan Hull, who will be taking snaps with the first-team offense. The duo will likely split carries until the return of Moss, which might come before the six-week mark.

Will the two young running backs be able to help lead the team to a few wins this season? Can they help remove some pressure from rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson? Can the team overcome the drama that is surrounding them currently?

The Colts had better hope so, or their season could be lost early in the year.
