“Days of the Offseason” is going to help you manage the long break from football, giving you tips and discussing strategies within your very own leagues.
The offseason is the most important part of dynasty fantasy football. With the NFL Draft falling right in the heart of the offseason, some new dynasty managers might feel overwhelmed with all that takes place.
Maintaining value is the hardest thing to do during the offseason, as many players’ values drop due to age, injury, or situation. You shouldn’t be worried about setting a lineup in April, you should be worried about maintaining value up until September.
Here’s a few deep “gold mine” players that should help you add cheap value to your roster heading into 2021.
1. Jamison Crowder
Jamison Crowder had a WR3 season, tied to the worst offense in football. I’m not trusting the Jets to entirely turn around this offense, but I do think Robert Saleh and Mike LaFleur will propel this offense out of the basement.
While they can surely add Justin Fields (my QB1 in 2021), they also have options across the board. The Jets could explore a trade for Deshaun Watson, or even a Derek Carr. They have also showed a slight interest in letting Sam Darnold work, who without Adam Gase, can finally show us what he can do.
Jamison Crowder can play, and he does real well underneath the safeties. If Sam Darnold or Justin Fields are the starting QB, you could see a new trust formed between Crowder and the QB.
While Crowder won’t post WR1 numbers, he’ll surely provide a safe flex floor and have some season long value that can be bought for a 4th come draft day.
2. Damien Harris
Damien Harris’ role is secure. The Patriots are needing help pretty much across the board, and with Harris producing at a stable rate, they won’t be looking to add RB talent early in this draft.
James White is also set to hit the open market; and with guys like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski partying down in Tampa, it’s hard to see White returning to a deserted New England.
This offense needs WRs, TEs, and even a long term QB. With a solid o-line still in tact, Harris should gear some high upside weeks with a steady week to week floor. Harris can be bought for a late 2nd, and maybe even an early 3rd come draft day.
3. Donovan Peoples-Jones
Donovan Peoples-Jones played really well when given the opportunity, and he showed that he can handle a WR2/3 role. He’s got really good hands and quick cuts, along with a jolt of speed in open space.
With the uncertainty of Odell Beckham Jr; and Baker Mayfield finally coming together, the chances are growing for DPJ. He was providing some pretty high upside down the stretch including in the playoffs.
With Baker showing he can be a high end QB2, the chances are going to grow for DPJ. He can be bought at a cheap price, and might even sway a 4th come draft day.
4. Jeff Wilson Jr.
Jeff Wilson Jr. has some opportunity heading into 2021, as he’s heading back to San Francisco for another year. He seemed to do pretty well down the stretch, which saw an increased opportunity for the RB.
San Francisco saw some injuries last year including RB Raheem Mostert, so it’ll be interesting to see how SF handles the running back duties for 2021.
You can get Wilson for a 3rd this year, and with a chance that he sees more work this year he’ll be worth the add as a RB4-5 on your depth chart. If anything happens to Mostert he could end up having similar type of value as Panthers’ Mike Davis had; especially with how often the 49ers run the football.
These players should be guys you should be trying to acquire in every league, as they’ll bring some cheap value to your roster in dynasty league formats before the start of the 2021 season.
Tomorrow’s article will be another Dynasty Gold Mine, featuring TEs and QBs. I hope you enjoyed day 1 out of 14 of “Days of the Offseason”!
