“Days of the Offseason” Day 2: Dynasty Gold Mine: QBs

QBs are scarce in fantasy football, and with the volatile QB market heading into this offseason, here’s some players that can help you navigate those troubling waters.

These few guys can bring some much needed depth and value to your QB position, while costing you no more than a mid-2nd round pick at best.

1. Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston will start somewhere in 2021. Whether that will be back in New Orleans or elsewhere remains to be seen. The Saints have shown some interest in Winston, though they face some cap difficulties.

However, the Saints can load up a contract for Jameis that wouldn’t see any cap loss for 2021. Jameis is looking to earn a deal, and no better way to do that then to receive an incentive based deal from New Orleans. This would give Winston time to prove his worth in the NFL and allow New Orleans to defer money back a year.

If the Saints do decide to stay with Taysom Hill, Jameis should land a job elsewhere. He’s got a good arm, and really hasn’t shown his full capabilities since his lasix surgery. I am buying Winston this offseason, and you can get him relatively cheap in fantasy football leagues.

2. Marcus Mariota

You would think this article is from 2016 Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota atop the list. However I think both could see opportunities to start wherever they go. Mariota was the back up this past year to Derek Carr in Las Vegas, but played well in the one game he appeared in.

Mariota could find himself in a bridge situation, or even a situation where he could have the chance to beat out the other competition. There’s a possibility that Washington brings in some QB help, which could allow Mariota get another chance to prove to us he can still be a starter.

You’re digging deep for this one, and it shouldn’t cost you more than a 3rd-round pick at most. If Mariota finds himself a job he can provide some value and upside in fantasy footbal; especially in a Superflex league.

3. Andy Dalton

This is a deep reach here, but if your looking to add some cheap QB depth Andy Dalton‘s your guy. While he probably won’t start this year, he can definitely be a top-end back up somewhere with potential to play.

Andy Dalton can still play, showing some good throws behind a injured o-line in Dallas. Dalton brings veteran leadership to any team he’s on, and could even see some starting job offers if teams miss in the NFL Draft.

You aren’t buying Dalton hoping for a QB2. You are buying Dalton to add to your QB depth for, ‘just in case’ purposes. I think Dalton holds more value in-season than out of season, and should make for a viable asset come 2021, especially in Superflex leagues.

Superflex leagues in fantasy football should be on high alert this offseason, as we will see probably the most movement at the QB position in one off-season. The uncertainty of most veterans jobs combined with a deep draft class really maximizes this sentiment.

I’m not trading any of these QBs this offseason, while I’m actively trying to acquire them. I think they are value players, that will gain value as time progresses.

We roll into Day 3 tomorrow! Tomorrow will be Dynasty Gold Mine: TEs! Let me know your thoughts on Twitter!
