Fantasy Faceplant: Week 11

fantasy football - fantasy faceplant

This is what kills your team; that top-ranked consensus player that has a fantasy faceplant. A fantasy faceplant is a player who finishes at least 15 spots lower than expected on a given week. Everyone knows Fantasy Football has so much variance week-to-week, so the faceplants might be just a blip. But as we go through the season we can see if the players show a trend. I will use FantasyPros each week to get the initial rankings. The players highlighted are from the TNF game and the Sunday day games. These do not include the SNF or MNF games. You can view last week’s faceplants here.

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Started – QB2
Sunday Finish – QB24

In what was supposedly going to be a high-scoring game, it did not end up that way. Mahomes had 260 pass yards but no TDs as both Chiefs’ TDs were on the ground.

Moving Forward: The Chiefs have seemed to rebound the last couple of games, but the offense is not the same high-powered one of the past. Mahomes will still have big games but the 40 point games might not be a consistent anymore.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Started – QB3
Sunday Finish – QB27

The Cowboys were already down Amari Cooper. Losing Ceedee Lamb in this game really hampered the offense. Surprisingly the Cowboys’ offense was held in check by the Chiefs’ defense and no one had a good fantasy day.

Moving Forward: I think this was just a blip for Dak but if the Cowboys are down a couple of receivers it will limit his overall ceiling for a game or two.

DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

Started – WR13

Sunday Finish – WR50

The Seahawks’ offense continues to struggle even with Russell Wilson back. In Week 11 they were held under 300 total yards and Wilson had two fumbles. Tyler Lockett was the main receiving option even though DK Metcalf had the most targets.

Moving Forward: I am not sure if this offense is going to get right anytime soon so the expectations of all options have to be lowered and are affected by matchups.

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

Started – TE6

Sunday Finish – TE24

The thought that Pitts is the main receiving option and will get the most targets did not work out. The Patriots focused on him and had no problems stopping the Falcons gameplan. Pitts was held to only 3 catches for 29 yards.

Moving Forward: With Calvin Ridley on leave, against good defenses, this may happen frequently this season. Pitts is the only top-end receiving option for the Falcons.
