As I sit down to write this, a group of friends are watching a spooky show and I am wearing my Rondale Moore jersey. I have the day off work tomorrow because of how much rain we got today. Perks of landscaping. We are in the heart of fantasy football season! The leaves falling, the windy blowing, pumpkin flavored everything, and seven weeks of the NFL regular season behind us. Last week, Bye-mageddon, was a rough week for a lot of us, but the defensive streamers from last week preformed well.
I would love to say that the process was right for my pick for the Eagles. I’d love to say that the game just did not go their way. The fact is that the Eagles defense looked bad, like really bad. The Eagles defense had two hits on Derek Carr. The only other games this year that the Eagles had fewer than four QB Hits were Week 2 against the 49ers, and Week 6 against the Bucs and their stellar offensive lines. That was a complete miss. Anyways, Week 7 is in the books so on to Week 8!
I am struggling to pick the Panthers. The first couple of weeks were so great! Then they dropped faster than a cartoon character after noticing they walked off a cliff. However, they play the Atlanta Falcons this week. Say hello to one of the best matchups for fantasy football D/STs. This may also be the debut of Stephon Gilmore in the black and blue. If that is the case, I expect the Panthers D/ST to preform well; maybe even better than expected.
The Colts play the Tennessee Titans this week in the second matchup of the year. Historically, the Colts have won 35 of their 54 matchups (64.8%), but only twice have the Titans won both regular season games (2002 & 2017). The Colts have been playing better each week, and the Titans are without one of their best, and one of the all time best, offensive weapons in Julio Jones. The Colts are firing on all cylinders and have won three of their last four matchups and set the fourth to overtime. Lastly, the Colts D/ST have only two games under 6 fantasy points this season in matchups against the Seahawks and the Ravens.
The Bengals play the Jets with their backup quarterback. It was already a good matchup for a solid defense even if Zach Wilson was starting. Mike White is not a better quarterback than rookie Zach Wilson.
So far this season, the Dallas Cowboys have had 11 sacks, 11 interceptions, and 3 D/ST touchdowns in six games! The Cowboys D/ST is averaging 8.2 fantasy football points per game. To top it all off, Trevon Diggs is currently on track for almost 20 interceptions this season. That would break the NFL record set by Dick “Night Train” Lane in 1952 who had 14 interceptions. Granted, the 1952 season was only 12 regular season games unlike the modern 17 game season, but 14 INTs in 12 games prorates out to the same number of INTs in 17 games. Did I mention that rookie Micah Parsons has 10 hits on the QB so far this season? He’s tied for the 14th most QB Hits in the NFL and the 26th highest QB pressure rate? This young defense is making a name for themselves.
Good luck and may the streams flow your way!
