Fantasy Football 2021: Late Waiver IDP Pickups – Week 9

fantasy football

Week 9 is here folks! The season is zooming fast, and we are now in an important stretch run for the fantasy football season. Most leagues will have playoffs starting in Week 15, which mean we have six more weeks to solidify playoff spots! Let’s get cracking with these week’s IDP adds:

Players to Add

Baron Browning DEN – The Broncos made surprise move last week and started Browning as their every down linebacker. He was also the one calling the plays as well. Browning played on 97 percent of the snaps tallied 8 total tackles, along with a tackle for a loss. These are impressive numbers, and the high snap count is exactly what you’re looking for.

The Broncos did trade for Kenny Young who will likely see playing time as well, but it’s hard to send Browning back to a reduced role after his performance. The Broncos should ride Browning for ROS and see what they have in this young rookie player.

Ernest Jones LAR – The Rams traded Kenny Young to the Broncos, which left them with just Troy Reeder and Ernest Jones as their main linebackers. Jones played in 89 percent of the snaps while tallying 9 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 interception. Quite the debut for the rookie third round pick!

I’d expect Jones to be the starter from here on out. He is too talented to be sitting on the bench. With the Rams defensive line being as stout as they are, this will open tackle opportunities for Jones. Add Jones with confidence!

T.J. Edwards PHIJust last week, I had mentioned to grab Alex Singleton. He ended playing a season low in snaps (34 percent). I should’ve seen the snap count decreasing. But since Singleton was still producing, he seemed like a good pickup. Not so much anymore.

Enter in third year player T.J. Edwards. He played in a season high 66 percent of the snaps last week against the Lions. He led the way with 13 total tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. Edwards and the rest of the Eagles defense have a tough matchup against a pass-happy offense in the Chargers. Edwards is the best choice as the MIKE linebacker for the Eagles, but another standout performance can solidify a long term role with significant playing time.

Watch List

Monty Rice TEN – Another rookie third round pick making his way onto the field is Monty Rice. Rice garnered 7 total tackles while playing 68 percent of the snaps. Keep an eye out for how Rice performs this week against the Rams. He can be solid fantasy football IDP add the rest of the way if he can have another good outing this week.
