Week 3 has come and gone. Now is the first week of October football! Time to get spooky! I hope all of you did well this past week and continued on the path to greatness and Fantasy Football Titles. Last week was, sadly, my worst week this season. The only pick last week that looked like it was the right decision was the Eagles. Let’s just see how bad it was in the recap.
Accountability:
- Philadelphia Eagles: 17 pts – HIT
- New York Giants: -1 pts – BUST
- Los Angeles Chargers: -6 pts – BUST
- Atlanta Falcons: 1 pts – BUST
- Week 3: 1 Hits – 3 Busts
- Season: 6 Hits – 5 Busts
This was my worst week of projections since my Week 4 picks of last year where I went 2-4 on picks. It did not feel good. Last year, I had a week where I gave an apologize to a franchise and I will do the same now. I would like to apologize to all Jaguars fans for two reasons:
- First, I under estimated the Jacksonville Jaguars
- Second, I over estimated the Los Angeles Chargers
I know better now. The Chargers looked bad last week starting an injured Justin Herbert. While Herbert was not the reason they lost, paying him when he was not fully ready did help the Jaguars on their road to victory. Herbert seems like he has made a full recovery and will be prepared to face the Texans at home. The Jaguars will look to continue their dominance as they will travel Philadelphia.
The Falcons and Giants were both struck hard with a reality blow. The Cowboys stunned the Giants and the Seahawks played better than I expected. The only good news is that in the standard ESPN Fantasy Football scoring, the Eagles were the top scoring D/ST on the week! Watching that game made it look like Carson Wentz spent more time playing in the turf than he did standing up! The Eagles just did not let up on him for one minute. It was like that meme from Sponge-Bob. They just would not let up! 17 fantasy points after only allowing 6 points in their game and having recorded a fumble recovery and 9 sacks. Anyways, on to this week!
Philadelphia Eagles – 55.6%
Until the Eagles D/ST is rostered above 65%, they will be on this list nearly every week. Even though they are playing the Jaguars (ESPN’s hardest matchup for a D/ST), they make the list. As Samuel L. Jackson said in the movie Coach Carter “If you need my credentials, they’re on the wall behind you.” If you need to know why the Eagles are on this list, you didn’t read the previous paragraph.
Denver Broncos – 36.9%
On to a more fun pick! The Broncos are the 4th highest scoring D/ST on ESPN. They are one of five D/STs that are averaging double digit points in their matchups with 10.7 fantasy points per week average. I know what you’re thinking. “But they can’t score on offense!” That’s fine, as long as they don’t let the other team score either. Last week, they tied with the Eagles as the highest scoring D/ST on the week; and their own NFL team scored fewer points than the D/ST! Do you know who they get to play this week? The only NFL team that’s 0-3 to start off the year. Denver will be traveling to Las Vegas to face off with their division rivals where both teams are hoping to have a get right game for their offenses. If the Broncos can continue to play dominating defense with their 3 sacks and a fumble recovery a game average, that’s already 8 fantasy points for them.
Honorable Mention: Cleveland Browns – 49.7%
The Browns travel down south to Georgia in a matchup with the Falcons. The Falcons will focus on a strong passing game with Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Cordarrelle Patterson. Even though the Falcons have a good offense, the Browns have a great defense. They will probably without Myles Garrett. I still expect the Browns to perform well.
Good luck this week! Hopefully your fantasy football D/STs preform well! Good luck and may the streams flow your way!
