Fantasy Football 2022: D/ST Streams Week 7

fantasy football dynasty mock nfl draft

I’ve got to be honest. Last week, I had a rough week at work and a busy Friday night and Saturday. I lost track of time and did not get a chance to write a Week 6 D/ST Streamers article. I’m back now! So I guess the first thing to do is to take a look back at the Week 5 fantasy football picks.

  • Jacksonville Jaguars: 6 pts – HIT
  • Minnesota Vikings: 6 pts – HIT
  • Tennessee Titans: 5 pts  – HIT
  • Miami Dolphins:  -1 pts – BUST
  • Week 5: 3 Hits – 1 Bust
  • Season: 10 Hits – 8 Busts

So far on the season, we are barely above .500. That’s not great, but it is about where I was at this time last year. I’m hoping to continue to improve on it throughout the rest of the  year!

In Week 5, the Jaguars faced the Houston Texans in a shockingly low-scoring affair. Both sides played well on defense and just could not get it going on offense. The Vikings played the Bears in an absolute show down! By show down, I mean the Vikings won 29-22 in a matchup that was fun to watch. Tennessee played the Commanders in a game that came down to Carson Wentz being Carson Wentz. The Dolphins started off strong, but have started to collapse a bit the past few weeks. Hopefully they can rebound coming up. With that, let’s look at our Week 7 fantasy football picks:

Los Angeles Chargers – 36.0%

The Chargers will be facing off against the Seahawks on Sunday. While the Seahawks have been offensively elite, their defense is lackluster. This is where the Chargers can outplay them. The Chargers spent a lot of their draft capital and free agency bringing in defensive players. So far, the Chargers D/ST have hit the mark in half of their games. The keys to their D/ST hits have been on the back of sacks. In all three games they hit, the Chargers recorded 4 or more sacks. Seattle have their two tackles figured out, but the interior of their offensive line is weak. This is where the Chargers can win. Forcing sacks and pressuring the quarterback up the middle will be the way this D/ST hits.

Las Vegas Raiders – 21.3%

Vegas Baby! The Raiders D/ST is near the bottom of the league in fantasy football scoring, but this is a good matchup. The last two games for the Raiders defense were as good as they were thanks to sacks they accumulated. Their secondary has been the problem. If the Raiders can limit Davis Mills passing and force pressure on him, the Raiders D/ST will do well. The Texans are not a team most fear in the passing game, but they  can beat you there.

New York Jets – 53.9%

The Jets finally make our list! The Jets D/ST are coming off of three straight weeks of double digit fantasy points. This week, they will travel to Denver and face a struggling Broncos team that may be without Russell Wilson. So far, the Jets have 14 sacks through six games, along with 7 interception. 2.33 sacks per game and 1.16 interceptions per game is the same as 4 fantasy points. On top of that, they are allowing an average of 21 points, but in the last three have only let up a highest of 20 points. This defense is building and on a momentum that could carry a 4-2 Jets team to a possible playoff birth.

Cincinnati Bengals – 47.1%

The Bengals will faceoff against the Falcons this week. As much as I hope this pick doesn’t work out for a couple of my fantasy football teams with Marcus Mariota, this seems like a good pick. I don’t think Mariota is the long term answer for the QB position in Atlanta and I don’t think that player is on the roster currently. Seeing how they have been using former #4 overall pick Kyle Pitts over the past few weeks, it’s not like he’s going to go out for 10 receptions, 114 yards, and 2 TDs. He only has 2 TDs in his career! Mariota’s first instinct is to throw it to a covered player or run. The Bengals are good at forcing QBs to make tough throws. While their stat line (9 sacks & 5 interceptions) is not as great as other teams, it’s still good enough to get fantasy points if it is a low scoring game for the Falcons.

Sorry for missing last week! Got caught up and missed a week. I am trying to do better going forward. Good luck this week! As always, may the fantasy football streams flow your way!
