We only have two weeks left before most fantasy football leagues start their playoffs. That means your streaming decisions are more important than ever! If you are on the outside looking in, it is past time to push your chips all in. Get an advantage however you can. Let’s look at last week’s picks to see if we got an advantage.
- Kansas City Chiefs: 1 pts – Bust
- Houston Texans: -1 pts – Bust
- New England Patriots: 13 pts – HIT
- Week 12: 1 Hits – 2 Busts
- Season: 18 Hits – 13 Busts
Last week did not treat us well. We had a lot of hope in the Texans and Chiefs D/STs. We also had no faith in the Jaguars or Raiders, But Aidan O’Connell came to play! And by play, I mean ruin our D/ST picks. I can’t be mad at him though, seeing as we went to the same college. This week, we will have six teams on Bye in the NFL. That will bring our pick options down from our normal 22ish (teams under 65% rostered) to only 16 teams. With that, let’s look at the picks!
Detroit Lions – 37.0% Rostered
The Lions had a stinker last week, but I’m calling a bounce back! In Week 13 they play the Saints, with the corpse of Derek Carr throwing the ball – for now. We could see him benched for the multi-year backup Jameis Winston. No matter what, they allow fantasy points to opposing D/STs.
Their past two matchups have scored 9 fantasy points each. Since their Bye week, the Lions D/ST has had their worst stretch of the season. Should they bounce back, and this is the prime week for them. Even with this bad stretch, the Lions D/ST is still averaging 7 fantasy points a week.
Los Angeles Rams – 26.4% Rostered
The Rams used to be a great fantasy D/ST. Nowadays, they haven’t been really relevant for fantasy football. They should be, though! They have scored at least 7 fantasy points in their last three matchups. Los Angeles has been compiling multiple sacks each of those weeks along with interceptions and fumble recoveries. They’ve been playing really well! Now they get to host the Browns who will either be rolling out rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson or the newly signed vet Joe Flacco. Neither feel like a great option for the Browns, but both are good news for the Rams!
Jacksonville Jaguars – 44.6% Rostered
After hoping for them to choke last week, we are now hoping they play lights out this week. This pick is based off of the fact that Jake Browning has not looked good the past couple of games. The Jaguars have played well on defense for most of this season, but we keep wanting more. The problem has just been them getting outscored (duh). In the games they allowed 20 or fewer points, the Jaguars D/ST has been hitting for our metrics. This week, with a bad Bengals offense, we should see the Jaguars D/ST put up closer to double digit fantasy points than Busting.
Conclusion
We have been struggling the past couple of articles. I’m hoping to bounce back and knock it out of the park on these last couple of articles. With this week’s picks, we’re mostly targeting offenses with with backup QBs. That’s usually a way to succeed. With that, good luck making your playoffs! As always, may the streams flow your way!
