Here we are, the final push before the fantasy football playoffs begin. And The League Winners are here to help you with some difficult start and sit decisions! Let’s jump into Fantasy Football 2023: Start or Sit Week 14!
Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 14 – Start
Jake Browning, QB – Cincinnati Bengals vs Indianapolis Colts –(Sheldon Hand)
That was quite a Monday Night Football performance! Browning carved up the Jaguars’ secondary for 354 yards and 1 TD, adding a rushing TD. Browning knows this system and has a healthy trio of WRs to help him succeed. The Colts aren’t a great matchup by any means, as they rank middle of the road against fantasy QBs. However, with all the injuries to QBs, I wouldn’t be scared to put him into my starting lineup. Start him over guys like Gardner Minshew and Baker Mayfield this week.
CJ Stroud, QB – Houston Texans at New York Jets (Tracy Gilroy-Norton)
CJ Stroud has been on our radar for a bit, but I don’t know if anyone expected him to play as if he’s been doing this for years. With over 3,000 and a 2nd in voting for the Pro Bowl, it’s a no-brainer to start him in Week 14. Another thing that makes him a shoo-in for this week is that they are playing the Jets. I would put him up against almost any QB at this point, but considering the Jets are bringing back Zach Wilson and I have no doubt that even without Tank Dell, Stroud won’t have any problems against the Jets’ defense.
Jerome Ford, RB – Cleveland Browns vs Jacksonville Jaguars (Brandon Haye)
The Jaguars just gave up over 150 rush yards to Joe Mixon and Chase Brown. With the QB situation up in the air for the Browns, I see them leaning in the run game. Jerome Ford could find himself having a big day.
Zack Moss, RB – Indianapolis Colts at Cincinnati Bengals (Erika Brown)
The Colts game against Tennessee last week wasn’t Zack Moss’ best showing. He had a total of 19 carries for only 51 yards, averaging only 2.7 yards per carry. Hopefully, that is the outlier. In the previous three games without Jonathan Taylor, Moss had two top-10 finishes and a top-25 finish. With a Bengals defense that is giving up yards and touchdowns to the running back position, Moss is in a great position to get back to relevance.
Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 14 – Sit
Derrick Henry, RB – Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins (Sheldon Hand)
The Yeti has back-to-back games with two touchdowns. It appears he has avoided a concussion and should play against the Dolphins on Sunday. However, he should not be in your lineup this week. I expect the Dolphins to get ahead early in this game against a weak Titans secondary. Henry could be game-scripted out of this game very quickly. The Dolphins are decent against the run, ranking the 11th best against fantasy RBs. This is a week where starting Spears makes more sense. AJ Dillon or Alexander Mattison have very favorable matchups this week and could be pivot options.
Zach Wilson, QB – New York Jets vs Houston Texans (Tracy Gilroy-Norton)
Let’s start with the fact that he didn’t want the job back. When you have actually to convince your QB to start again it’s never a good sign. You can try to say that it’s because he felt snubbed that he lost the job to two other QBs, but we all know it’s because he lacks the skill. Did he do well in some games up to Week 11 – Sure, but against Stroud and the Texans’ defense I see more sacks than saves ahead for our NY QB.
Zach Charbonnet, RB – Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (Brandon Haye)
Nico Collins, WR – Houston Texans at New York Jets (Erika Brown)
It’s hard to sit a wide receiver who has been doing so well this season. Nico Collins has had five top-12 finishes on the year so far, and with fellow receiver Tank Dell hurt this week, Collins is expected to receive most of the receiving work. However, they face the New York Jets. Where the Jet’s offence lacks, the defense will make up for it. Collins will most likely receive coverage from top-corner Sauce Gardner. The Jets have only allowed 3 touchdowns to the wide receiver all season, and I expect that trend will continue this week as well.
