As we prepare for Week 12 of the 2023 NFL Season, we enter our first critical period of the fantasy football season. Many fantasy managers will face some serious decisions this week, so let’s get right into Fantasy Football 2023: Week 12 Waiver Wire Targets.
* I will be using Yahoo Fantasy Rostership & for this Week 12 Waiver Wire article. I will also attempt to give several options at each position, for varying league sizes. The dollar value next to the player’s name is the desired amount of FAAB to bid on them with a $100 budget.
Quarterbacks
Joshua Dobbs, Minnesota Vikings
Week 12 Opponent: Chicago Bears, Rostership: 71%
Dobbs has been the feel-good story of the 2023 NFL season. He has bounced around from Cleveland to Arizona to Minnesota and has seemingly caught lightning in a bottle at each stop along the way. His run of production never seems to last more than three games and it will fade away as quickly as it begins, but if you need immediate production and a trustworthy starter Dobbs is your guy.
The Vikings schedule features the Bears and Raiders bookending a Week 13 bye, so he should have at least two more solid performances left in him before he turns back into a pumpkin.
Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): Joshua Dobbs, MIN (71% rostered), Kyler Murray, ARI (77% rostered), Sam Howell, WSH (79% rostered)
Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): Jordan Love, GB (57% rostered), Matthew Stafford, LAR (56% rostered)
Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Will Levis, TEN (29% rostered), Baker Mayfield, TB (47% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Joe Flacco, CLE (0% rostered), Jake Browning, CIN (1% rostered), Tommy DeVito, NYG (5% rostered), Dorian Thompson-Robinson, CLE (11% rostered), Aidan O’Connell, LV (5% rostered), Tim Boyle, NYJ (0% rostered), Desmond Ridder, ATL (9% rostered)
Running Backs
Zach Charbonnet, Seattle Seahawks
Week 12 Opponent: San Francisco 49ers, Rostership: 51%
Charbonnet has been featured in this waiver column every week all season as he has elite handcuff potential. This week he may have finally cashed in a winning lottery ticket and made good on that handcuff potential as the Seahawks lost start Kenneth Walker to injury.
It’s uncertain at this time the extent of Walker’s injury but if Charbonnet becomes the bell cow in this backfield he has league-winning potential. Even if Walker can play in Week 12, Charbonnet still offers standalone value as a handcuff and backup with pass-catching ability.
Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): Devin Singletary, HOU (78% rostered), Jaylen Warren, PIT (79% rostered)
Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): Zach Charbonnet, SEA (51% rostered), Darrell Henderson, LAC (56% rostered), Keaton Mitchell, BAL (58% rostered)
Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Ty Chandler, MIN (44% rostered), Tyjae Spears, TEN (40% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Latavius Murray, BUF (23% rostered), Chris Rodriguez, WSH (3% rostered), Royce Freeman, LAR (19% rostered), Jeff Wilson, MIA (16% rostered), Ty Johnson, BUF (0% rostered), Salvon Ahmed, MIA (2% rostered), D’ernest Johnson, CLE (0% rostered), Rico Dowdle, DAL (16% rostered)
Wide Receivers
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers
Week 12 Opponent: Detroit Lions, Rostership: 43%
Reed is part of a trio of Green Bay receivers that are playing musical chairs to determine which one of them will have a boom game each week. Reed offers solid deep-threat potential and is a great option if you are chasing the upside.
On some weeks the Packers are even able to produce WR2 weeks with two members of the trio Reed, Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson. Reed has almost as much weekly upside as he has weekly risk. He’s a great Hail Mary play.
Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): Jahan Dotson, WSH (72% rostered), Jaxon Smith-Njigba, SEA (71% rostered), Courtland Sutton, DEN (79% rostered)
Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): KJ Osborn, MIN (44% rostered), Romeo Doubs, GB (62% rostered), Christian Watson, GB (62% rostered)
Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Rondale Moore, ARI (27% rostered), Jayden Reed, GB (43% rostered), Odell Beckham Jr, BAL (41% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Tutu Atwell, LAR (24% rostered), Robert Woods, HOU (15% rostered), Khalil Shakir, BUF (11% rostered), Darius Slayton, NYYG (2% rostered), Jameson Williams, DET (20% rostered), Dontayvion Wicks, GB (0% rostered)
Tight Ends
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals
Week 12 Opponent: Los Angeles Rams, Rostership: 79%
McBride has been the breakout star of November. He exploded once Zach Ertz was placed on the injured reserve. He has had five targets or more in each of his last six games and has two TE3 or higher finishes over the past four weeks.
Trey McBride has become a critical part of the Cardinal’s offense and with Kyler Murray back under center his potential in the second half of the season is massive. He could easily be a top-five tight end in the second half.
Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): Trey McBride, ARI (79% rostered)
Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): Pat Freiermuth, PIT (55% rostered), Luke Musgrave, GB (46% rostered), Logan Thomas, WSH (65%)
Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Tyler Higbee, LAR (32% rostered), Cade Otton, TB (27% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Donald Parham, LAC (3% rostered), Isaiah Likely, BAL (5% rostered), Tyler Conklin, NYJ (24% rostered), Stone Smartt, LAC (0% rostered), Luke Schoonmaker, DAL (1% rostered), Tanner Hudson, CIN (4% rostered), Daniel Bellinger, NYG (1% rostered)
