Fantasy Football 2023: Week 6 Sleepers

The League Winners, Fantasy Football, Week 6 Sleepers

Anyone can look at fantasy football rankings, but what if you like risks and want to swing for the fences? That is where this article will come in for you. As the season goes on, this will be the spot for you to find the sleepers to start in your fantasy football league. Even more so when byes and injuries start to pile up. Each week I will be picking one fantasy football sleeper at each position. These players are set to outperform their ranking and help win your week on the way to becoming a League Winner! Welcome to Fantasy Football 2023: Week 6 Sleepers.

Now let’s look at what we are picking from:

  • I’m defining a sleeper as someone ranked outside of the top 30 for WRs and RBs who will finish in the top 20 at the position. That would be around 14 fantasy points based on the average of last year.
  • For QBs and TEs, I am defining them as outside the top 15 but will finish in the top 10. Last year using average points per game that would be 21 fantasy points for QB and 11 fantasy points for TE.
  • PPR Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR) on Fantasy Pros will be used. These players may not be on the waiver wire but could be big
  • I will track the hit rate based on the above settings but also how far the picked sleepers outperform their initial rankings for the week.

Week 5 Review

We only got one sleeper, right but it was a big one! Jaleel McLaughlin finished 25 spots above his prediction. Now after five weeks we are 6/19 on sleepers and dropped down to 10/17 picks finishing ahead of their initial ranking. I was completely wrong about Romeo Doubs, but barely missed a top 10 finish for Jonnu Smith.  Let’s bounce back this week!

So, now let’s take a look at some fantasy football sleepers for Week 6 of the NFL season.

QB: Baker Mayfield vs the Detroit Lions

Fantasy Pros ECR: QB19

The Buccaneers have struggled to run the ball with only 87 yards a game and that should not change this week against the Lions. They are giving up the 3rd least rushing yards per game, at a little over 68 yards. This will cause Baker Mayfield to have to go through the air. The Lions are more susceptible to the pass, giving up the 13th most fantasy points to quarterbacks in the NFL. Mayfield is coming off of a three-touchdown performance against the Saints and with a bye week to prepare; he should be able to put up some points.

RB:  Kendre Miller vs the Houston Texans

Fantasy Pros ECR: RB44

Kendre Miller has dealt with injuries so far in his rookie season but had his most productive game overall against the Patriots. He still is the RB2 to Alvin Kamara, but the share of touches leaned more in his favor than the previous week. Miller received 16 touches to Kamara’s 25 touches, but even more promising is his receiving work of 4 catches for 53 yards. The Texans are giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs so there should be enough touches to go around for both Kamara and Miller.

WR: KJ Osborn vs the Chicago Bears

Fantasy Pros ECR: WR40

The Vikings will be without Justin Jefferson for a few weeks, so Osborn will take on a more prominent role. He received his most amount of targets in the previous game with nine and should be very involved against the Bears. Last Thursday, the Bears’ defense kept everything in front of them and were better against the run. That is why I am picking Osborn over Jordan Addison this week, as Osborn over the season has had the shorter average depth of target. The Vikings have not been a great running team and I don’t think this will change this week.

TE: Tyler Conklin vs the Philadelphia Eagles

Fantasy Pros ECR: TE19

Garrett Wilson’s production so far this season has been disappointing compared to the expectations coming into the season. One player that has taken advantage of this is Tyler Conklin. He has five or more targets in the last four games. In three of those four games he has 50 or more receiving yards. The Eagles are giving up over 11 fantasy points per game to tight ends and that ranks ninth-most in the NFL. Zach Wilson has turned the corner a little in the last two games and this should allow the Jets to not look like a disaster against the Eagles.

Good luck to everyone this week! Hopefully these Week 6 sleepers can take your fantasy football team over the top. Make sure to follow our content all year so we can help you to be a League Winner!
