Fantasy Football 2023: Week 6 Waiver Wire Targets

The League Winners, Fantasy Football, Week 6 Waiver Wire

As we get ready for Week 6 of the 2023 NFL Season, we enter our first critical period of the fantasy football season. Many fantasy managers will face their first serious roster decisions of the season. For managers who lost players to injury in Week 5, this may be their only chance to stay afloat. So let’s take a look at my Week 6 Waiver Wire Targets for fantasy football.

* I will be using Yahoo Fantasy Rostership & for this Week 6 Waiver Wire article. I will also attempt to give several options at each position, for varying league sizes. The dollar value next to the player’s name is the desired amount of FAAB to bid on them with a $100 budget.

Quarterbacks

Sam Howell, Washington Commanders($10)

Week 6 Opponent: Atlanta Falcons, Rostership: 34%

Howell has seen his ups and downs in what has essentially been his rookie season. He has thrown for 290+ passing yards in three of five games this year. He also has 25+ fantasy points in three of five games. If he can minimize the turnovers, the sky is the limit.

Sam Howell is a great stash to hold in case he puts it all together. His rushing upside also increases his ceiling. He could be a top-10 quarterback if he works out the issues in his game.

Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): CJ Stroud, HOU (77% rostered), Deshaun Watson, CLE (76% rostered)

Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): Daniel Jones, NYG (56% rostered), Geno Smith, SEA (66% rostered), Matthew Stafford, LAR (57%)

Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Sam Howell, WSH (34% rostered)

Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Baker Mayfield, TB (19% rostered), Joshua Dobbs, ARI (21% rostered), Gardner Minshew, IND (40% rostered)

Running Backs

Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans($ 10)

Week 6 Opponent: Baltimore Ravens, Rostership: 26%

Another week in the books and another step closer to Tyjae Spears taking over this backfield. Derrick Henry is looking old and past his prime. He is also losing ground to Spears in every facet of the game.

Spears had 17 points in Week 5. He’s had five or more carries and four or more targets in four games this season. He is slowly taking over this backfield. A changing of the guard seems to be on the horizon in Tennessee.

Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): Zack Moss, IND (75% rostered), Gus Edwards, BAL (71% rostered)

Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): Jaleel McLaughlin, DEN (59% rostered), Jaylen Warren, PIT (60% rostered), Antonio Gibson, WSH (49% rostered), D’Onta Foreman, CHI (58% rostered)

Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Roschon Johnson, CHI (41% rostered), Chuba Hubbard, CAR (27% rostered), Tyjae Spears, TEN (26% rostered)

Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Tank Bigsby, JAC (20% rostered), Kendre Miller, NO (12% rostered), Rico Dowdle, DAL (6% rostered), Emari Demercado, ARI (0% rostered)

Wide Receivers

Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs($10)

Week 6 Opponent: Denver Broncos, Rostership: 39%

Rashee Rice looks to have emerged as the WR1 in Kansas City. Mahomes has built a solid rapport with him and his workload is increasing. Rice has had 10+ fantasy points in three of five games. He has also had five or more targets in four of those games.

Rice is giving every indication that a second-half breakout is in his immediate future. A blowup game could happen at any moment.

Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): Courtland Sutton, DEN (76% rostered), Tank Dell, HOU (71% rostered), Diontae Johnson, PIT (71% rostered), Romeo Doubs, GB (78% rostered), Jakobi Meyers, LV (78% rostered)

Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): Jaxon Smith-Njigba, SEA (51% rostered), Jahan Dotson, WSH (68% rostered), Tutu Atwell, LAR (61%), Jameson Williams, DET (58%)

Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Tyler Boyd, CIN (48% rostered), Josh Reynolds, DET (41% rostered), Marvin Mims, DEN (36% rostered), Rashee Rice, KC (39% rostered)

Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Wan’Dale Robinson, NYG (24% rostered), Josh Downs, IND (9% rostered), Rondale Moore, ARI (7% rostered), Jonathan Mingo, CAR (8% rostered)

Tight Ends

Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys ($20)

Week 6 Opponent: Los Angeles Chargers, Rostership: 75%

Dak Prescott has always loved to target his tight ends. So, it’s little surprise that Ferguson has become a crucial piece of this offense. He has recorded 10+ fantasy points in three of his last four games.  Ferguson has seven targets in three of five games.

Ferguson should look to see his role in this offence continue to grow. He has cemented himself as the number two option behind CeeDee Lamb. Ferguson could easily be a top-10 option for the rest of the season.

Shallow League Options (More than 70% Rostership): Tyler Higbee, LAR (76% rostered), Hunter Henry, NE( 72% rostered), Jake Ferguson, DAL (75% rostered)

Medium League Options (50 to 70% Rostership): Cole Kmet, CHI (69% rostered), Zach Ertz, ARI (51% rostered), Dalton Kincaid, BUF (63% rostered)

Deeper League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Chigoziem Okonkwo, TEN (35% rostered), Luke Musgrave, GB (26% rostered), Dalton Schultz, HOU (36% rostered)

Dart Throw Options (Less than 25% Rostership): Jonnu Smith, NE (16%), Logan Thomas, WSH (15% rostered), Tyler Conklin, NYJ (6% rostered)
