As we get ready for Week 7 of the 2023 NFL Season, we enter our first critical period of the fantasy football season. Many fantasy managers will face their first serious roster decisions of the season. For managers who lost players to injury in Week 6, this may be their only chance to stay afloat. So let’s take a look at my Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire Targets for fantasy football.
* I will be using ESPN Fantasy Football Rostership & for this Week 7 Waiver Wire article. I will also attempt to give several options at each position, for varying league sizes. The dollar value next to the player’s name is the desired amount of FAAB with a $100 budget.
Defensive Linemen
Jonathon Cooper, Denver Broncos($25)
Week 7 Opponent: Green Bay Packers, Rostership: 14%
Cooper has totaled 29 tackles and four sacks so far this season and has been as consistent as they come. Over his past five games, he has recorded three or more tackles, with his season-high being eight.
Cooper is starting to see steady playing time and as that increases to full-time play, his production will continue to increase taking him to the next level.
Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Jalen Carter, PHI (29% rostered), Greg Rousseau, BUF (25% rostered), Khalil Mack, LAC (28% rostered)
Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Ed Oliver, BUF (16% rostered), Josh Sweat, PHI (16% rostered), Jonathan Allen, DEN (14% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 10% Rostership): Jonathon Cooper, DEN (7% rostered), AJ Epenesa, BUF (4% rostered), Trey Hendrickson, CIN (7% rostered)
Linebackers
Bradley Chubb, Miami Dolphins ($10)
Week 7 Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles, Rostership: 6%
Chubb has been on fire over the past two games, totaling 6 tackles or more in both. He has 27 tackles on the season and shows a solid floor for his fantasy production. He has also chipped in a sack and a forced fumble on the season. To this point, he is performing at an elite level.
Look for Chubb to continue his dominance into the second half of the season, becoming a weekly IDP must-start.
Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Jeremy Chinn, CAR (28% rostered), Quincy Williams, NYJ (43% rostered), Jaelen Phillips, MIA (21%)
Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Rashan Gary, GB (11% rostered), Bradley Chubb, MIA (12% rostered), David Lloyd, JAC (13% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 10% Rostership): Leonard Floyd, BUF (4% rostered), Dennis Gardeck, ARI (4% rostered), David Long, MIA (6% rostered)
Defensive Backs
Darious Williams, Jacksonville Jaguars ($15)
Week 7 Opponent: New Orleans Saints, Rostership: 4%
Williams has gotten off to a solid start and has really picked up steam as of late. On the year, he has totaled 23 tackles, two forced fumbles, three interceptions and one defensive touchdown.
He is part of a Jaguars defense that has struggled at times but really looks to be rounding into form. He should continue to produce well for you, even if he isn’t an every-week starter.
Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Devon Witherspoon, SEA (31% rostered), Justin Simmons, DEN (26% rostered), Dax Hill, CIN (31%)
Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Brian Branch, DET (14% rostered), Jordan Whitehead, NYJ (14% rostered), Xavier McKinney, NYG (8% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 10% Rostership): Darious Williams, JAC (7% rostered), DaRon Bland, DAL (6% rostered), Justin Reid, KC (4% rostered)
