Fantasy Football 2023: Week 7 Sleepers

The League Winners, Fantasy Football Sleepers Week 7

Anyone can look at fantasy football rankings, but what if you like risks and want to swing for the fences? As the season goes on, this will be the spot for you to find the sleepers to start in your fantasy football league. Especially when byes and injuries start to pile up. Each week I will be picking one fantasy football sleeper at each position. These players are set to outperform their ranking and help win your week on the way to becoming a League Winner! Welcome to Fantasy Football 2023: Week 7 Sleepers.

Now let’s look at what we are picking from:

  • I’m defining a sleeper as someone ranked outside of the top 30 for WRs and RBs who will finish in the top 20 at the position. That would be around 14 fantasy points based on the average of last year.
  • For QBs and TEs, I am defining them as outside the top 15 but will finish in the top 10. Last year using average points per game that would be 21 fantasy points for QB and 11 fantasy points for TE.
  • PPR Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR) on Fantasy Pros will be used. These players may not be on the waiver wire but could be big
  • I will track the hit rate based on the above settings but also how far the picked sleepers outperform their initial rankings for the week.

Week 6 Review

What a terrible week. Baker Mayfield could not get anything going against the Lions, and the Saints’ offense continues to struggle. The call on KJ Osborn was not wrong, the Vikings just did not pass the ball as much and Jordan Addison got the touchdown. Now after six weeks we are 6/23 on sleepers and dropped down to 10/23 picks finishing ahead of their initial ranking. It has been a rough couple of weeks, only can go up from here! Let’s bounce back this week!

So, now let’s take a look at some fantasy football sleepers for Week 7 of the NFL season.

QB: Josh Dobbs vs the Seattle Seahawks

Fantasy Pros ECR: QB17

Josh Dobbs might not be throwing a ton of touchdowns, but his rushing value helps inflate his overall stats. He has over 40 rushing yards in four of his last five games and three for over 230 yards against the Rams last week. Even with an interception, Dobbs finished as QB19 in Week 6. This week he gets a nice matchup against the Seahawks who are giving up the 11th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. With the injury to James Conner, Dobbs may be called on even more to run the ball.

RB:  Jahmyr Gibbs vs the Baltimore Ravens

Fantasy Pros ECR: RB31

Jahmyr Gibbs has missed the last couple of games but will get a big opportunity this week as David Montgomery is looking at missing some time. The last time Montgomery was out, Gibbs had 17 carries for 80 yards. The Ravens are not a great matchup, but their defense is not what it used to be. They rank 18th in giving up fantasy points to running backs and just gave up a big game to Derrick Henry. It is a rough landscape for running backs with injuries and bye weeks, so I could easily see Gibbs being a top 20 play this week.

WR: Rashee Rice vs the Los Angeles Chargers

Fantasy Pros ECR: WR36

Rashee Rice seems to be getting more comfortable with the Chiefs offense and getting a better connection with Patrick Mahomes. In three of his last four games, he has at least five targets and had his best game of the year in week six with 72 receiving yards. The Chargers are allowing the most fantasy points to wide receivers with 38 per game. Travis Kelce is the main target but it seems Rice is moving into the second receiver Mahomes is looking for.

TE: Pat Freiermuth vs the Los Angeles Rams

Fantasy Pros ECR: TE20

Pat Freiermuth looks to be returning to action this week and gets a good matchup. The Rams’ defense is containing wide receivers and gives up the third-fewest in fantasy points. On the other hand, they are giving up the third most fantasy points to tight ends. While Freiermuth has been off to a slow start, I think he will start to pick up production and could have a big day.

Good luck to everyone this week! Hopefully these Week 7 sleepers can take your fantasy football team over the top. Make sure to follow our content all year so we can help you to be a League Winner!
