As we get ready for Week 7 of the 2023 NFL Season, we enter our first critical period of the fantasy football season. Many fantasy managers will face their first serious roster decisions of the season. For managers who lost players to injury in Week 6, this may be their only chance to stay afloat. So let’s take a look at my Week 7 Waiver Wire Targets for fantasy football.
* I will be using Yahoo Fantasy Rostership & for this Week 7 Waiver Wire article. I will also attempt to give several options at each position, for varying league sizes. The dollar value next to the player’s name is the desired amount of FAAB to bid on them with a $100 budget.
Quarterbacks
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals ($20)
Week 7 Opponent: Seattle Seahawks, Rostership: 23%
Murray has yet to play this season and it’s still unknown exactly when he will be back. He is an elite stash right now as we inch closer to a return date.
Joshua Dobbs filled in admirably for the first month of the season, but the league appears to have caught on to him and things have come crashing down. Murray should be back sooner than later and is a too-12 quarterback upon his return to the Cardinals lineup.

Running Backs
Salvon Ahmed, Miami Dolphins ($ 10)
Week 7 Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles, Rostership: 21%
Another week and another Miami running back that emerges into fantasy relevance. With Jeff Wilson and Devon Achane both out with injuries, Salvon Ahmed stepped in as the backup behind Raheem Mostert.
He was nowhere near as productive as Mostert but as all Dolphins backups do, he produced. Look for Ahmed to continue to have flex appeal for as long as he is receiving touches.

Wide Receivers
Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers ($30)
Week 7 Opponent: Los Angeles Rams, Rostership: 71%
Johnson has missed the better part of the 2023 season nursing a hamstring injury suffered against the 49ers. He has been cleared to play and the 21-day return window has been opened.
He is a high-level target earner and should step right back into his previous role. This is a potential low-end WR2 option on the waiver wire and should be added in all leagues he is available in.

Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders ($7)
Week 7 Opponent: Chicago Bears, Rostership: 5%
Mayer scored his first NFL touchdown in Week 6 and has continued to see his role in this offence grow. That role grew even more with Jimmy Garoppolo out and Brian Hoyer in at quarterback for the Raiders.
In Week 7, he gets a matchup against the Chicago Bears that should serve as his coming-out party. Look for the next big star tight end to break out this week.
