Fantasy Football 2023: Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire Targets

As we get ready for Week 8 of the 2023 NFL Season, we enter our first critical period of the fantasy football season. Many fantasy managers will face their first serious roster decisions of the season. For managers who lost players to injury in Week 7, this may be their only chance to stay afloat. So let’s take a look at my Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire Targets for fantasy football.

* I will be using ESPN Fantasy Football Rostership & for this Week 8 Waiver Wire article. I will also attempt to give several options at each position, for varying league sizes. The dollar value next to the player’s name is the desired amount of FAAB with a $100 budget.

Defensive Linemen

Jonathon Cooper, Denver Broncos($25)

Week 8 Opponent: Kansas City Chiefs, Rostership: 26%

Cooper has totalled 35 tackles this season and has become a crucial part of the Broncos defence. He has chipped in an additional forced fumble and fumble recovery as well as four sacks.

In week 7 he racked up six tackles. He was all over the field as a disruptive force against the Broncos. Look for Cooper to continue his domination this season.

Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Jonathon Cooper, DEN (26% rostered), Christian Wilkins, MIA (25% rostered), DeForest Buckner, IND (25% rostered)

Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Michael Hoecht, LAR (13% rostered), Bradley Chubb, MIA (24% rostered),  Montez Sweat, WSH (13% rostered)

Dart Throw Options (Less than 10% Rostership): Shaquil Barrett, TB (9% rostered), Mike Danna, KC (1% rostered), Kyle Van Noy, BAL (1% rostered)

Linebackers

Jordyn Brooks, Seattle Seahawks ($10)

Week 8 Opponent: Cleveland Browns, Rostership: 33%

Brooks was a monster against Arizona in Week 7 racking up nine tackles and 0.5 sacks. So far this season he has two sacks, a fumble recovery and 48 tackles.

He is one of the truly elite defenders in the game. He’s an excellent fantasy football asset in IDP leagues. Why he is only 33% rostered is mind-boggling.

Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Jordyn Brooks, SEA (33% rostered), Josey Jewell, DEN (39% rostered), Shaquille Leonard, IND (38% rostered)

Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Lavonte David, TB (20% rostered), Devin Lloyd, JAC (15% rostered), Eric Kendricks, LAC (13% rostered)

Dart Throw Options (Less than 10% Rostership): Jerome Baker, MIA (4% rostered), Nate Landman, ATL (3% rostered), David Maya, WSH (1% rostered)

Defensive Backs

Grant Delpit, Cleveland Browns ($15)

Week 8 Opponent: Seattle Seahawks, Rostership: 11%

Delpit has 22 tackles, one recovered fumble and one interception so far this season. In Week 7 against the Colts he totalled ten tackles and a whopping 18 fantasy points in standard IDP scoring.

Delpit is somehow available in 89% of ESPN IDP leagues. He is a must-add this week if you’re in need of defensive backs. He possesses both a high floor and a high ceiling.

Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Minkah Fitzpatrick, PIT (45% rostered), Richie Grant, ATL (26% rostered), Rayshawn Jenkins, JAC (30%)

Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Kenny Moore, IND (13% rostered), Jaquan Brisker, CHI (14% rostered), Grant Delpit, CLE (11% rostered)

Dart Throw Options (Less than 10% Rostership): Jamel Dean, TB (1% rostered), Dean Marlowe, LAC (1% rostered), Jordan Poyer, BUF (8% rostered)
