As we prepare for Week 9 of the 2023 NFL Season, we enter our first critical period of the fantasy football season. Many fantasy managers will face their first serious roster decisions of the season. For managers who lost players to injury in Week 8, this may be their only chance to stay afloat. So let’s look at my Fantasy Football 2023: Week 9 IDP Waiver Wire Targets.
* I will be using ESPN Fantasy Football Rostership & for this Week 9 Waiver Wire article. I will also attempt to give several options at each position, for varying league sizes. The dollar value next to the player’s name is the desired amount of FAAB with a $100 budget.
Week 9 Opponent: New England Patriots, Rostership: 17%
Sweat has only two games this season with less than 15 fantasy points in standard IDP scoring. He is producing at an elite level and simply cannot be left unrostered. He is a must-add in all formats and is about to enter high-end must-start territory among defensive linemen.
Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Josh Allen, JAC (40% rostered), Khalil Mack, LAC (38% rostered), DeForest Buckner, IND (32% rostered)
Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Montez Sweat, WSH (27% rostered), Trey Hendrickson, CIN (24% rostered), Bradley Chubb, MIA (22% rostered)
Dart Throw Options (Less than 10% Rostership): AJ Epenesa, BUF (9% rostered), Jonathon Cooper, DEN (9% rostered), Andrew Van Ginkel, MIA (7% rostered)
Week 9 Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers, Rostership: 19%
Al-Shaair has had ten tackles or more in three consecutive games and has been all over the field for the Titans. In Week 8 he even managed to recover a fumble, further increasing his ceiling as an elite IDP asset. He has become a weekly must-start player.
Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Kyzir White, ARI (36% rostered), Ernest Jones, LAR (32% rostered), Jordyn Brooks, SEA (32% rostered)
Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Lavonte David, TB (23% rostered), Azeez Al-Shaair, TEN (19% rostered), Robert Spillane, LV (19% rostered)

Bland kicked his game into a new gear in Week 8 against the Rams as he had seven tackles. He also chipped in an interception and a touchdown in his best performance of the season. His snap share has increased each week as well. Finally, he has proven to be a vital part of an elite Cowboys defense.
Shallow League Options (25 to 50% Rostership): Camryn Bynum, MIN (38% rostered), Devon Witherspoon, SEA (36% rostered), Antoine Winfield, TB (32%)
Deeper League Options (10 to 25% Rostership): Dax Hill, CIN (29% rostered), Kenny Moore, IND (13% rostered), Julian Blackmon, IIND (5% rostered)
