Devy Superflex leagues are all the rage these days, and with good reason. They’re the height of fantasy football fun for me. And, in order to achieve success over your league mates, you’ve got to be one step ahead of the curve. That means finding the diamonds in the rough, especially at QB.
Today I’m highlighting a Fantasy Football Devy QB prospect with only a year of eligibility left that can be the steal of your Devy Superflex draft. A man with limitless potential that finally seems to have refined his game enough to be a true force – both in the NCAA and NFL football field.
Joe Milton III
That player to target in your fantasy football Devy drafts is Tennessee’s QB Joe Milton III. Milton is an interesting story. He began his career at the University of Michigan, where tales of his arm strength became the things of legend. I once saw a video where standing on the field, Milton was able to throw a football that went outside of Michigan stadium. Like I said, insane arm talent.

Milton was still a raw prospect at Michigan, and was never really able to gain a foothold as their full time starter. That led him to transfer to the University of Tennessee. Joe Milton was initially named the starter for Tennessee in 2022, but was eventually by Hendon Hooker as the starter due to an injury.
Then, Hooker himself succumbed to an injury; and Milton re-entered the fold as the starter for the Volunteers.
Milton was able to keep a competitive Tennessee team afloat by amassing 971 passing yards, 10 TDs and zero INTs throughout the 2022 season at Tennessee. This culminated in a stellar performance in the Orange Bowl. One that saw 6th ranked Tennessee throttle 7th ranked Clemson behind Milton’s 251 yards and 3 TDs. That production led to him being named the Orange Bowl’s MVP.

Yet, you won’t hear anyone talking about Joe Milton as a fantasy football Devy Superflex prospect. He’s somehow still under the radar, and he shouldn’t be.
The most telling statistic above, for me, is the lack of interceptions. Milton had zero in four regular season starts, and none in the Orange Bowl. That shows a massive refinement to his game. If he continues, it is going to allow him to show out in 2023 for the Volunteers. That could translate over to NFL when he is set to be drafted in 2024.
The shear raw talent and arm strength have always been there for Joe Milton. The lack of interceptions in 2022 shows a huge progression in accuracy and field awareness that is going to make him an NCAA cheat code moving forward.
Competition in the Fold
Tennessee has highly touted 5-star recruit Nico Iamaleava waiting in the wings of their QB room. But early indications suggest that Milton could be the Vols starter in 2023.
The Vols also have Nicholaus Iamaleava; whose high school tape from Long Beach Polley is full of trick shot type throws. Nico is raw, and having him Redshirt a year will do him some good. If you can secure both Nico and Milton in your fantasy football Devy leagues cheaply enough (neither should be expensive at this point) – DO IT.
Snatch up Joe Milton III late in your Devy Superflex drafts and thank me later!
