Staying in the beautiful world of fantasy football Devy prospects, I wanted to highlight another under the radar QB that you haven’t heard much about. His name is Sam Hartman, the new QB who just transferred to Notre Dame.
I’m guessing half of you have never heard of him, and the other half that have think he’s “meh”. I feel like Hartman has became a type of quarterback that you’d usually see playing under Mike Leach. That is, a player that provides insane numbers in every situation, and yet somehow still goes overlooked by the masses.
Sam Hartman led the ACC in passing yards last season for Wake Forrest with 3,701 yards. He also holds the all time ACC record for passing TDs with 110. To be frank, Hartman’s career stats are mind blowing. 12,976 passing yards, 110 TDs and 41 INTs.
Those would be impressive numbers if someone were to earn them while playing Madden. Hartman has stayed steady in his ability to put up big numbers. His last two years have shown that he can produce well above expectations.
- 2021: 4228 yards, 39 TDs and 14 INTs
- 2022: 3701 yards, 38 TDs and 12 INTs
Video game like numbers; playing in the same conference as the vaunted Clemson Tigers.
And now, he’s transferred to a big named school to be a big time QB – Notre Dame.
Can Notre Dame turn Sam Hartman into a Superstar?
The extra exposure that comes from being the starting QB for a big time school like ND is going to make Sam Hartman a household name come midway through the 2023 season; but we’re going to be ahead of the game by already owning him by scooping him up in our fantasy football Devy drafts this offseason.
That’s the beauty of a prospect like Sam Hartman. Given the draft capital it would take to acquire him in a Devy league, the man is the very definition of low-risk, high-reward.
Hartman is the kind of QB that elevates everyone around him. Last year at Wake he made AT Perry (currently projected as a 2nd round pick in the upcoming NFL draft) look like Megatron.

Hartman can make every throw on the field. He’s a gunslinger that isn’t afraid to sling it all over the field while still maintaining a good amount of accuracy to his game.
If Hartman can accomplish that at Wake Forrest, just imagine what he can do at the helm of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The beauty of playing for a major program like the Irish is that Sam Hartman is going to have a chance to show off his impressive skill set against some elite competition. He could even have ND in contention for a 2023 playoff birth if he can play the way he’s already shown he can throughout his collegiate career.
ND has powerhouses OSU, USC and Clemson all on the schedule for 2023.
That ND/USC game is going to be a clash of two of the nations best QBs – in Caleb Williams and Sam Hartman. You’re just going to be the first one to know Hartman is going to hold his own dialing it out with unanimous best QB in the NCAA in Caleb Williams.
Everything about Hartman’s game will translate over to the next level. NFL Scouts that didn’t care to know about the small school kid from Wake Forest are going open their eyes this year as he shreds the NCAA, pumping up his NFL draft stock in the process.
Spend a late round Devy pick on Sam Hartman now. Be confident that you’ve acquired an elite QB prospect for pennies on the dollar while all you’re league mates are focused on the big names everyone already knows about.
