I am back to run through a couple more fantasy football Devy trades. In Part 2 we look more into getting additional Rookie and Devy Picks. For a look back at strategy in Devy, check out Devy Trades Intro.
Trade 1
I was directly involved in this trade and it has quite a bit of risk. This is a Devy League where the Rookie and Devy draft are combined; and there is a max of 24 Devy picks each year.
- In this league I am not contending for a championship in year 1, so I was willing to give up Swift
- In Devy, there is always quite a bit of risk; and this was a very risky trade by myself
- I am biased but I love Gibbs game and think he translates well into the NFL with his receiving ability and could be a 3-down back
- Jacob Harris looks like he could be an ascending player and make a similar impact to Darren Waller in the future. Hill was just a throw-in to have another RB.
- I love Swift (he is top-5 in my Dynasty RB rankings) but I do worry about how he will be used, and what that offense will look like in the future
- Since I am not competing this year, I am willing to wait on Gibbs while my team becomes more competitive. This is the type of trade for building for the future. I admit it could all blow up in my face if Gibbs and Harris do not pan out.
Trade 2
This trade I was not directly involved in, but am in this league. In this Devy league, you pick a college and get rights to players from your school in Devy and Rookie Drafts. This trade was sent to me by Christian Welch and he is a great Devy mind with The Fantasy Authority. Make sure to check him out on Twitter @EvilEmpireFF.
- In this trade, Christian was able to have the best of both worlds. He is working towards the future, but also got an NFL piece to help him win right now
- I like Curtis Samuel but with so many mouths to feed in Washington it seems the only guaranteed receiver will be Terry Mclaurin
- Tyrell Williams could be the top WR for the Lions but his ceiling is limited for this year and moving forward
- Kelce is a huge piece that is being traded, but the haul is so much that it makes up for losing the best TE
- Mixon is polarizing but if healthy could be a top-10 RB. He’s still young with a good amount of years left. Evans is a nice pickup as he may be the handcuff eventually for the Bengals.
- Thomas Fidone was the 2nd rated TE by 247 and has a bright future even with the injury he sustained early in camp.
- In Devy leagues, the Rookie draft is depleted because of players picked through the Devy draft. But there will always be players that slip through like Javonte Williams and Zach Wilson in 2021. Devy assets are even more hit or miss than rookie players. In this trade, there are so many acquired it helps to have more attempts and hitting the right players.
- This is one of the better hauls for Kelce I have seen and well worth trading away one of the best TEs in the game.
I hope that if you have not tried a Devy league that you will take the leap. Our own Brian Craighead has a great intro series into Devy that will help newcomers. I want to keep up this Devy Trade Column so please send me any trades that you have and I will make sure to shout you out in the article. As always you can find me @hayeb3 on Twitter and please let me know what you think.
