Fantasy Football 2022: D/ST Streams Week 2

fantasy football - defense, D/ST Streams Week 8, The League Winners

We are BACK Y’all! Year Two of the fantasy football D/ST Streamers. Last year, we finished on a great hot streak! After starting right around .500 record over the first 10 weeks or so, I went on a hot streak and finished the year 51-20 on the season. That’s roughly 72% accuracy, and I am quite proud of that personally.

This year, we will use the same main rules: Four picks each week, No Thursday night teams, Only D/STs rostered under 65% on ESPN, and the D/STs must hit 4 fantasy points or more. I started the year with my D/STs to target in late rounds of fantasy football Redraft leagues. Using that article, let’s look at those Week 1 picks:

  • Denver Broncos: 7 pts – HIT
  • Cleveland Browns: 8 pts – HIT
  • Philadelphia Eagles: 5 pts – HIT
  • Week 1: 3 Hits – 0 Busts
  • Season: 3 Hits – 0 Busts

We start off the year on a good, but not a great note; seeing as there were six teams that hit double digit points. But we are on the right track. This is the week I am most worried about. We still do not know enough about these D/STs to see which ones are statistically the most likely to hit.

This week, we’re without 12 teams to pick from. Teams like the Rams D/ST hosting the Falcons, the Bills hosting the Titans, or the 49ers hosting the Seahawks would all be great picks if they were options for us. We’re limited this week and at a disadvantage, being only in Week 2. Let’s do our best!

Number 3: Denver Broncos 36.0%

The Broncos look to bounce back from a Week 1 loss to the Seahawks (What?!?) by hosting the Texans. The Broncos defense did well last week and held the Seahawks to only 17 points. They also had a fumble recovery and 2 sacks. The biggest issue with the Broncos defense is the defensive line.

The linebackers and secondary both put up multiple tackles, with the linebackers having both sacks and 3 tackles for loss (TFLs). All good notes for this defense! The Seahawks have a similar level of offensive line as the Texans have. I would not be surprised to the see the Texans have a lower score and allow more sacks.

Number 2: Philadelphia Eagles 23.6%

The Eagles defense looked good against the Lions. Shockingly, the Lions looked competitive! While I thought they could be a team that we will be talking about being In The Hunt for the playoffs, I did not think they would do that to the Lions.

The Eagles put a lot of pressure on the Lions and even had a pick 6. Across the board, the Eagles defense played well. The front line put a lot of pressure on the quarterback and had two players get a half sacks each. The linebacking core totaled 16 tackles including 2 Tackles For Loss (TFLs). To top it off, the secondary were astounding with 28 tackles, 2 Passes Deflected, and an interception returned for a 27 yard touchdown.

They get to play against the Vikings on Monday night against that pass happy offense. According to the Wake Up! w/ RayGQue podcast, Justin Jefferson averaged 66 yards when not playing in a dome last year. If that holds up this year, expect Kirk Cousins to push the ball down field and throw a couple interceptions.

Honorable Mention: Washington Commanders 33.1%

The newly-named Commanders did well last week. Defensively, they had an interception and two sacks. This week, they get to go from the Jaguars to the Lions in what could be another good week for them defensively.

Number 1: Cleveland Browns 51.8%

The Browns get to play host to the Joe Flacco led Jets. Flacco has plenty of experience against the Browns when he was with the Ravens. Now, with the Jets, the Browns look for revenge. I would not be surprised to see the Browns out do their previous performance.

Last week, the Browns had an interception and 4 sacks against the Panthers. With the Jets missing two starting offensive tackles, I expect Myles Garrett to feast this week! To top it off, the Jets allowed 3 sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery against the Ravens last week. In the 48.2% of leagues where the Browns are available, pick them up and start them!

I want to thank everyone who followed along last year and returned for this year! I hope your fantasy football drafts and Week 1 matchups went well! As always, good luck and may the streams flow your way!
