Fantasy Football: Fact or Fiction Week 6

The League Winners, Fantasy Football, Fact or Fiction Week 5

We are to the halfway point of the NFL season and back with Fact or Fiction for Week 6! I’m joined this week by fellow League Winner contributor, Ryan Prosick, to determine if these statements are either true or false – and what that could mean for fantasy football teams.

Fact or Fiction – Week 6

Bills’ Damar Hamlin will win Comeback Player of the Year.

Ryan: Fiction

This has nothing to do with Hamlin himself; he is an incredible story, and I’m glad he is on the football field after that scary incident. It has everything to do with Tua Tagovailoa and what the Miami Dolphins are doing. There were also concerns that Tua would never play football again after a scary concussion on Thursday Night Football last season. Now he’s back running the best offense in the league and one of the front runners for MVP.

Erika: Fiction

Hamlin had a terrifying health scare on the field a year ago, and has been active for only two games so far in the 2023 season. In order to be crowned Comeback Player of the Year, Hamlin would need to be active and make significant contributions to the field. That hasn’t happened this year. Honestly at this point, Tua Tagovailoa is the front runner, but Cooper Kupp could overtake him if he continues to play the way he has since coming back from IR. There is still a lot of football to be played, so it’s a toss-up at this point of the season.

The Eagles are the best team in the NFC.

Ryan: Fiction

It crushes me inside to say this, but even with the 49ers’ recent loss to the Browns, it is still San Francisco’s conference to lose.

The Eagles still have time to fix the offense, but it has a long way to go. We also do not know how serious the Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel injuries are. For the early part of the season, we see the 49ers in the lead.

Erika: Fiction

The NFC is a two team race, even with both losing this week. But the better team overall is the 49ers. Their offense is clicking so far this season, with Brock Purdy playing above average. McCaffrey, Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk are running the offense. The defense is ranked second overall in fantasy football points allowed this season. Even with injuries to some of their offensive players, the 49ers can be consistent enough to continue winning games, and eventually the NFC division.

Derrick Henry will not be a Titan in 2024.

Ryan: Fact

Derrick Henry has shown he still has it, and it is clear the Titans do not. They are going into a complete rebuild, and resigning a 30-year-old running back would be the worst thing they could do. I know Mike Vrabel will fight for it, though, because that’s who he is. This team is just too many pieces away, including a quarterback. Look for Henry to be in a new uniform in 2024.

Erika: Fact

The Titans have looked a mess so far this season, and are about to go into a full rebuild. Ryan Tannehill doesn’t look like himself, and DeAndre Hopkins isn’t as elite as he once was. Henry is already losing touches to the backup running back and at this point, Tyjae Spears looks to be the better back as well. The Titans will be looking to 2024 for new offensive weapon in the draft and free agency, and Henry will not be a part of their future plans.

Brock Purdy is a Top-12 quarterback by end of season.

Ryan: Fact

This was the most straightforward prompt before the injuries this week. Purdy plays perfectly for this coach and team. The Week 6 matchup against Cleveland was a brutal game against a tough defense, and he will finish this season as a QB1 in a perfect scenario. San Francisco has a middle-of-the-road strength of schedule for the rest of the season. Purdy will be just fine in the Bay Area.

Erika: Fact

Brock Purdy has been fantastic for the 49ers this season, and a top 10 quarterback in fantasy football. While he did land his first loss this week as a starter in the NFL, he did lose two of his best offensive weapons, which didn’t help his fantasy stats. But even against a good defense like Dallas, he put up four touchdowns and big fantasy numbers. The 49ers have a pretty favorable schedule moving forward, especially facing some great defensive matchups against quarterbacks. I project he ends the season in the top 10.

Jerry Jeudy will be traded before the October 31st trade deadline.

Ryan: Fact

The Denver Broncos will trade Jerry Jeudy to the resounding approval of Marvin Mims fans. Knowing Sean Payton, those snaps will go to other players. That is a story for a different article. The only problem I can see preventing Jeudy from getting out of Denver is a team being afraid he will be a distraction after those Thursday night antics. I’m sure someone will gamble on the talent because it is there, and that is why I’ll still with fact. He would be a perfect fit for Kansas City, but I doubt that happens.

Erika: Fact

Jeudy has been a bit of a disappoint for the Broncos since he was drafted in 2020. In four years, he has only 9 touchdowns and 2517 yards. I was a Jeudy truther when Russell Wilson was traded to the Broncos. I believed he could step up and become a true WR1, but that hasn’t happened. The Broncos are now ready to move on, already implying that Jeudy will be traded before the deadline. Hopefully he lands in a spot that’s great for himself and fantasy football. Either way, he will not be a Bronco for much longer at all.
