I love fantasy football, but my No. 1 passion every Sunday is playing daily fantasy sports. I enjoy playing cash games and GPPs on Draft Kings. I thoroughly make the best possible lineups I can.
Every Week, I will share with you my favorite cash players for fantasy football DFS purposes. These plays are safe, but should provide a safe floor and a steady set of points. I try to combine touchdown equity with players who will get target shares in high-scoring games.
With Week 11 here, these are my favorite cash plays this week.
Christian McCaffrey
This first choice should come as no surprise to veteran DFS players who love taking the most expensive running backs. Yes, Christian McCaffrey has been an injury headache lately. While CMC’s fantasy and DFS managers have been looking for a monster day, McCaffrey has been steady without turning into a fantasy monster.
On DraftKings, McCaffrey has averaged 19.8 points, but he has failed to top 30 points at all this year. McCaffrey’s best game was a 27.7-point Week 1 effort against the New York Jets. In fantasy football PPR formats, McCaffrey is a core player in all leagues.
While tomorrow’s matchup against the Washington Football Team may sound frightening, offenses have averaged 376 yards per game against them. Star pass-rusher Chase Young is out for the season after tearing his ACL last week against the Bucs, and Montez Sweat is also on the injured reserve. This should make the WFT defense easier to navigate for Carolina’s offense.
The weirdest part of CMC’s season has been how unlucky he has been. CMC has failed to get a 100-yard bonus as a rusher or receiver. McCaffrey has also scored just one touchdown this year. While a Cam Newton rushing touchdown is not out of the question against Washington, CMC feels ready for a monster game. He is well-worthy of being Week 11’s most expensive player. Carolina’s star is a staple of my cash lineup.
AJ Dillon
I am not picking Dillon due to his name alone. Heading into Week 11, AJ Dillon was going to be a huge part of the Green Bay Packers offense. Whether as a runner or receiver, Dillon has shown his power and receiving abilities.
Last week when Aaron Jones injured his knee in a win over the Seattle Seahawks, Dillon rushed 21 times for 66 yards while scoring the only two touchdowns of the game. Dillon also totaled 62 receiving yards.
In a starting role at just $6,200, Dillon is underpriced for his No. 1 back role against the Minnesota Vikings. Green Bay has averaged 109 rushing yards per game. Dillon’s power could shrink the game – limiting Minnesota’s offense from controlling the time of possession.
With GB’s offense hampered with a few injuries, Dillon could get 15-20 carries with a few more targets out of the backfield.
Michael Gallup
Who does not love a cheap wide receiver in Sunday’s highest over-under game? Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Gallup is projected to be one of Sunday’s highest-rostered players in a great game environment against the Kansas City Chiefs. While Gallup is usually a tournament play, Sunday offers a rare chance of using him in any format.
For Gallup’s DFS managers, Sunday’s game offers the chance to get his 2021 season in the right direction. After seven targets on opening night against the Bucs, Gallup missed seven games with a calf injury. Last week, Gallup caught three of his five targets in his return to the field.
Now, Gallup gets a dream matchup against the NFL’s 23rd pass defense – allowing 258.6 yards per game. Meanwhile, Dak Prescott has compiled 20 TDs while completing over 70 percent of his passes.
Gallup was going to be a part of my fantasy fotoball DFS game before Amari Cooper’s positive test for COVID-19. While CeeDee Lamb will also see a bigger target share, Gallup offers a value and upside play.
