Fantasy football playoffs are here. Now the matchups of fantasy football players have mattered more than in other weeks. A decision between starting Tua against the Buffalo Bill in a harsh weather environment or Zach Wilson against a resurging Detriot Lions defense can have a drastic impact. So let’s check out week 15 matchups.
As a reminder, this is a matchup chart and not a team performance chart. The chart will look at matchups for each game using EPA/play data from rbsdm.com. I will attempt to look for outlier matchups according to EPA/play and substantiate them with more stats. Check out the Week 14 matchup article here.
Week 15 Passing Game Tidbits
- The New York Jets have attempted the third-most passing attempts (44.7 pass attempts) in the past three weeks. Now they face the team giving up the most air yards in the league in Detriot Lions.
- The Denver Broncos rank third on the year with 4000 intended air yards. Now they get to face the number one team allowing the most air yards with 1998 air yards, the Arizona Cardinals. If the Broncos can connect on some of those plays, look for a big game. Arizona also now ranks first-most in points allowed per game, 26.8.
- Las Vegas Raiders’ defense is allowing a league-leading 69.7% completion percentage. The New England quarterbacks are second-best with a 68.98% completion rate.
- The Tennesse Titans allow the first-most points to the TE position. They have allowed 23 receptions for 302 yards and two touchdowns to the tune of 14.2 points. They also allow fourth most points to the WR position. The LAC offense is one I would target in any one-and-done fantasy football league. Week 15 Rushing Game Tidbits
- The Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles skew the rushing chart this week with the only teams above .100 rush EPA/play. Their opponents are allowing 4.75 yards per rush attempt. Both the Eagles and Ravens are tied with the Bills with 3.5 yards before contact.
- The last time the Washington Redskins and New York Giants played, they tied. They are pretty even when it comes to the passing matchup. However, the Commanders have a big edge in the rushing game. Look for the Commanders to not allow Taylor Heincke to throw for another 41 attempts. Brian Robinson should break the 100-rush-yard threshold as the Giants allow 5.4 yards per attempt.
- Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott are fourth and fifth in fantasy points in the last three games. Dallas is second in the same three-week span with 36.3 points a game.
Hope these tidbits help you find some gems to start this week. Be sure to check out one-and-done fantasy football leagues by following #BabyBowl and @lineupsowdown on Twitter.
