Fantasy Football Redraft: Early Hot Takes for 2023 Season

Fantasy football is filled with opinions. Not everyone will like the players you are high on. Some of the things you say about players can come back around to prove you completely wrong. That is the thing with fantasy football – everyone has different takes. Here are some of the takes I have for the upcoming fantasy season.

Cooper Kupp will be the WR1

This shouldn’t be that much of a hot take. The connection between Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford is something we have not seen in awhile. Just a couple years ago, Kupp showed us the greatest WR fantasy season of all time. He averaged just about 26 PPG in 2021. Before his injury last season, he averaged 22.4 PPG – which gave him back-to-back WR1 titles (in points per game).

Kupp is one of the best, if not the most talented WRs in the league. This season, Kupp and Stafford are healthy, and should put up huge numbers like the season before. Kupp is currently going as the WR4 in Underdog, and that is a steal for a player like him. Grab this League Winner, and enjoy all of the points he can bring to your fantasy football team.

Justin Herbert will finish as a Top-3 QB

Take this one with a grain of salt, but Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are healthy. I was shaking in fear just writing out that sentence.

Last season was a very disappointing season for Justin Herbert. From Week 5 on, Herbert only had one game over 24 points. He finished as the overall QB11 after dealing with an injured WR room during the season. I expect this to be the bounce back year for Herbert.

Herbert will have the offense healthy coming into the year, and they drafted Quentin Johnston 21st overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. They are preparing for the couple games Mike Williams famously misses. They have been a team that on paper, looks like Super Bowl contenders, but can never deliver. I’m expecting the group as a whole to deliver this season. Herbert will use these offensive weapons to his advantage. Draft Herbert as the QB7 and enjoy.

Joe Mixon is being severely overlooked

There have been so many things following Joe Mixon since he entered the league. His off the field issues are something that you do not want to see with a player. This offseason, Mixon is facing another issue, though he appears to be absolved from any wrongdoing. Despite this, his ADP has started to nosedive in fantasy football leagues.

Right now Mixon is being drafted as the RB16 – and that is a steal. The Cincinnati Bengals lost Samaje Perine this offseason and drafted Chase Brown in the fifth round of the draft. Mixon is in line to be an absolute workhorse once again this season. He can provide us some of the best numbers of his entire career and you can get him as an RB2. If Mixon is on the roster to begin the season, there is no way you can pass on him as your RB2.

Darren Waller will finish as a Top-3 TE

This has to be one of the takes that I am most confident in. It was just a couple seasons ago when Darren Waller finished as the TE2. He has had a couple injury-riddled seasons, but now he is fully healthy.

This offseason, Waller was traded to the New York Giants. On a team bereft of talent, Waller can easily lead the receiving group in targets. If Daniel Jones plays like he did last season, or even improves, Waller can be an elite asset in fantasy football. He is the one of the bright spots in an offense, yet is being drafted as the TE7. Waller is a player that can truly be a #LeagueWinner.

Like I said in the beginning, these are all just my own opinions. All of these can be completely wrong. Or, I let everyone know for the rest of my life that I perfectly predicted all four of these.
