The League Winners are getting defensive. In addition to our weekly fantasy football Start or Sit column found here, we are now offering a weekly IDP Sit or Start column for all you IDP fans out there. So without further delay, let’s take a look at Fantasy Football: IDP Sit or Start – Week 12.
Fantasy Football IDP Start or Sit Week 12 – Start
Linebackers
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah– Cleveland Browns vs. Denver Broncos
Owusu-Koramoah is one of the more underrated pieces to one of the best all-around defences in the NFL. He has amassed 49 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the season and has been a force to be reckoned with this season. In Week 12 he faces the Broncos who are allowing 17.9% above league average to linebackers. Look for him to wreak havoc on Russell Wilson all day as the Browns annihilate the Broncos.
Damone Clark– Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders
Clark has 64 tackles on the season and has been a key reason the Dallas defence has been a nightmare to play against. This week he will be playing against the Commanders who are allowing a 25.9% boost to linebackers, that’s the largest boost in the league. Clark will look to once again pile up tackles in a Thanksgiving Day showdown with their division rival. A primetime showdown should be a great chance for Clark to produce primetime numbers and show off his talents.
Devin Lloyd– Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans
Lloyd has been dominant this season for the Jaguars and has been one of the reasons they have remained in games even when their offence struggled. Lloyd has 69 tackles and 1 forced fumble on the season and will look to build on that production in a matchup with the Texans who are giving linebackers a 13.2% bump in production. He will almost certainly put up another huge game this week in a prime spot with a talented, young divisional opponent.
Defensive Linemen
Ja’Whaun Bentley– New England Patriots vs. New York Giants
Bentley has been excellent while stepping up for the injured Matthew Judon. Bentley has 68 tackles and 3 sacks on the season and has been one of the main reasons that the Patriot’s defence has stayed afloat since losing its star defender. This week he faces the Giants who are allowing a whopping 36.2% production boost to defensive linemen. Bentley should have no trouble racking up another high-tackle outing in this meeting of bottom-feeding teams.
Dexter Lawrence – Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders
Lawrence is yet another productive member of this high-powered Cowboys defence that has been a gold mine for IDP leagues. He has totalled 41 tackles and 4 sacks on the season and is a must-start. This week he faces off with the Commanders who are giving opposing defensive linemen a boost of 32.0%. This boost should allow Lawrence to be yet another Cowboy defender to be a stud on the national stage on Thanksgiving Day.
Jaelan Phillips– Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets
Phillips has been an exciting breakout player for the Dolphins and is largely responsible for their success as a unit. He has 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 1 interception on the season and is getting better every week. This week he faces the Jets and their new quarterback Tim Boyle. Not only is this a prime situation against a backup quarterback but it’s against a Jets team that was allowing a 29.6% boost to defensive linemen even in the best of circumstances, if you can consider Zach Wilson the best of circumstances.
Defensive Backs
Amani Hooker– Tennessee Titans vs. Carolina Panthers
Hooker has been consistently productive this season as he has amassed 54 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception on the year. This week he looks to continue that consistency against a Panthers squad that is giving defensive backs a 17.4% boost. Hooker should have little trouble slicing his way through the Panthers defence and will be a must-start this season.
DJ Reed– New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins
Reed has been a surprise with his production for the Jets this season. He has totalled 45 tackles and 1 forced fumble on the season. This week he faces off against the Dolphins who are allowing a 17.4% fantasy performance boost to defensive backs this season. The Dolphins are a high-flying offence and the Jets should have ample opportunities to rack up another high-sack total game.
Jonathan Jones– New England Patriots vs. New York Giants
Jones has only managed 20 sacks on the season and has been inconsistent at best. This week, however, he gets a matchup with the Giants who are allowing a 12.6% boost to the position. Jones is far from a must-start this week but he is definitely a solid streamer.
IDP Start or Sit Week 12 – Sit
Linebackers
Odafe Oweh– Baltimore Ravens vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Oweh has been a bust as an IDP asset this season and will continue to be so this week. In Week 12 he faces a Chargers squad that is limiting opposing linebackers to 25.8% below the league average. This game figures to be a slow-paced game if the Ravens have their way and are sure to keep this game grounded which could limit Oweh’s opportunities to produce. He is a must-sit until further notice.
Alex Anzalone– Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers
Anzalone has seen a career resurgence since joining the suddenly elite Lions but this week he faces the Packers who are holding linebackers to 18.7% below the league average. Anzalone is a great IDP asset but needs to be left on your bench on Thanksgiving Day. He has a whopping 81 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 fumble recovery this season but is in a tough spot this week in a bad matchup.
Elandon Roberts– Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Roberts has 71 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the year and has been a productive member of the Steeler’s defence but this week he faces off with the Bengals who are limiting linebacker production by 18.1%. This matchup with a tough division rival could make for a tough fantasy outing for Roberts in Week 12 and as a result, he should be left on your bench in IDP formats.
Defensive Linemen
Quinnen Williams – New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins
Williams has 38 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception on the season and his having one of the best years of his career. This week he takes his production up against the Jets who are limiting defensive linemen by 29.2% and are a death sentence for the position. He has been solid this year and is only to be sat if you have a suitable replacement, but if you avoid him, you should.
Josh Sweat– Philadelphia Eagles vs. Buffalo Bills
Sweat has 28 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles on the year and has been a bright spot on the sometimes struggling Eagles defence. In Week 12 he will go up against a Bills offence that is holding opposing linemen to 25.3% below the league average. As good as Sweat has been, this Bills matchup has been even worse for linemen and you simply cannot risk it this week. Find a suitable replacement for yet another high-end asset that you cannot play this week.
Tyree Wilson– Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Wilson has 19 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble this season. As good as he has been as a rookie, this Raiders defence is still brutal and opponents are opting to avoid him altogether. This will be made worse against a smart quarterback like Patrick Mahomes who will likely choose to operate on the opposite side of the field wherever possible. The Chiefs are limiting linemen to 21.2% below the league average and will instead opt to target more vulnerable spots in the Raider’s defence.
Defensive Backs
Vonn Bell– Carolina Panthers vs. Tennessee Titans
Bell has 44 tackles and 1 interception on the year and has been up and down in his production. This week he faces off against the Titans who are limiting defensive backs by 17.7% below the league average. Bell will struggle this week to produce at his normal level and considering that normal level isn’t excellent, he is someone to avoid.
Denzel Ward– Cleveland Browns vs. Denver Broncos
Ward has 29 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 2 interceptions on the season and has been another great piece in this stifling Browns defence. This week he faces the Broncos who are limiting defensive backs by 15.4% below the league average. Ward is a great IDP asset but this week he needs to be avoided and held for better spots.
Jamal Adams– Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers
Adams has battled injury during his time with Seattle and has been inconsistent as a result. He has 28 tackles on the season and will go up against the 49ers this week who are holding defensive backs to 16.3% below the league average. Steer clear of Adams until he works through his injury issues and begins to produce at an elite level again. As of now, he is a stash and not a start.
