The League Winners are getting defensive. In addition to our weekly fantasy football Start or Sit column found here, we are now offering a weekly IDP Sit or Start column for all you IDP fans out there. So without further delay, let’s take a look at Fantasy Football: IDP Sit or Start – Week 13.
Fantasy Football IDP Start or Sit Week 13 – Start
Linebackers
Jerome Baker– Miami Dolphins vs Washington Commanders
Baker has been as consistent as they come this season on his way to compiling 65 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 2 interceptions on the year. In Week 13 he gets a matchup with Washington Commanders who are the best matchup for opposing linebackers. They are allowing a productivity boost of 25.9% over the league average and should provide Baker with ample opportunity to rack up another high tackle outing.
Jonathan Greenard– Houston Texans vs Denver Broncos
Greenard has been nowhere near as consistent as Baker about tackles, but his proclivity for sacks has given his fantasy production a whole new level. On the season he has 36 tackles and a whopping 7 sacks. This week he faces the Denver Broncos who are the 2nd best matchup for linebackers. They are allowing a 17.9% productivity boost to the position and with the increasingly immobile Russell Wilson at quarterback he should be able to record yet another sack.
Alex Singleton– Denver Broncos vs Houston Texans
Singleton is having a monster season for IDP fantasy leagues and has become a must-start. This season he has recorded 108 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries. In Week 13 Singleton faces off with the Houston Texans who are currently the 3rd best matchup for linebackers. They are allowing a 13.2% productivity boost to the linebacker position and should prove a prime matchup for Singleton in this battle of surprising AFC teams.
Defensive Linemen
Christian Wilkins– Miami Dolphins vs Washington Commanders
Wilkins has been all over the field for the Dolphins and seems to be improving each week. So far he has put up 42 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 1 fumble recovery. This week he goes up against the Washington Commanders who are the best matchup for defensive linemen in addition to linebackers (load up on Miami IDP players this week). They are allowing a productivity boost of 32.0% to the position. The Dolphins IDP players should have a field day against the most sacked quarterback in the NFL.
David Onyemata– Atlanta Falcons vs New York Jets
Onyemata has been one of the few bright spots on the Falcons defence as he has recorded 41 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. In Week 13 he goes up against the Jets who are the 2nd best matchup for defensive linemen. They are allowing a productivity boost of 29.6% to the position. A matchup with the struggling Jets offence and third-string quarterback is sure to produce lots of fantasy points for Onyemata.
Byron Young– Los Angeles Rams vs Cleveland Browns
Young has been solid through the first 12 weeks and has totalled 45 tackles, 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles so far this season. He faces off with the Cleveland Browns this week who are the 34rd best matchup for defensive linemen. They are giving a production boost of 29.6% to defensive linemen and will be easy picking for Young as he tee’s off on whichever backup quarterback the Browns choose to roll out this week.
Defensive Backs
Antoine Winfield– Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Carolina Panthers
Winfield has been excellent this season and for his entire career. He has 81 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumbles recovered and 1 interception on the year. This week he will go up against the Carolina Panthers who have been the best matchup for defensive backs. They are allowing a productivity boost of 17.4% to defensive backs and with rookie quarterback Bryce Young struggling has been a gold mine for IDP defensive backs.
Kamren Curl– Washington Commanders vs Miami Dolphins
Curl is having an excellent season and has been highly productive. He currently has 93 tackles 1 sack and 1 forced fumble. In Week 13 he faces the Miami Dolphins who are high-scoring, but are the 2nd best matchup for opposing defensive backs. They are allowing a production boost of 17.4% to the position. The Commanders figure to be on the field early and often in this matchup and that should allow Curl many chances to pile up stats, specifically tackles.
Charvarious Ward– San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles
Ward has been inconsistent this season but still has his uses in IDP leagues. This season he has 51 tackles, 1 forced fumble as well and 2 interceptions. He goes up against the Eagles in Week 13 who are the 3rd best matchup for defensive backs in this heavyweight showdown. They are currently giving opposing defensive backs a production boost of 11.7%. Ward is not without risk, but in this battle of juggernauts, there should be lots of chances to produce.
IDP Start or Sit Week 13 – Sit
Linebackers
Jabrill Peppers– New England Patriots vs Los Angeles Chargers
Peppers has been solid but not a must-start this season. He has 59 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 recovered fumble and 1 interception on the year. This week he will square off with the Los Angeles Chargers who are the worst matchup for opposing linebackers. They have limited opposing linebackers to 25.8 % below the league average. The Patriots should be on the field often in what will likely be a one-sided game, but he will have to become a run-stopper in this game to produce as the Chargers run out the clock.
Willie Gay– Kansas City Chiefs vs Green Bay Packers
Gay has been a decent producer in the surprisingly effective Chiefs defence but he hasn’t been great for fantasy. This season he has 39 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 3 fumbles recovered. In Week 13 he will face the Green Bay Packers who are the 2nd worst matchup for opposing linebackers. They are limiting the position to 18.7% below the league average. Gay is going to struggle to find a way to produce against this offence that limits IDP scoring.
Travon Walker– Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cincinnati Bengals
Walker has been disappointing so far this season. He has totalled only 28 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 1 fumble recovered. He faces the Bengals who are the 3rd worst matchup for linebackers. They are holding opposing linebackers to 18.1% below the league average and have been a graveyard for fantasy linebackers. Walker will someday have a bright future but this week isn’t one that will see him being productive in your lineup.
Defensive Linemen
Daron Payne– Washington Commanders vs Miami Dolphins
Payne has been a middling producer for much of the season and has compiled a stat line of 38 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 2 recovered fumbles. He will go up against the Miami Dolphins this week who are the worst matchup for opposing defensive linemen. The Dolphins are holding opposing linemen to 29.2% below the league average. That massive hit to the position, combined with Payne’s middling production make shim a must-sit this week.
Preston Smith– Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs
Smith has been average on a solid Packers squad. This season he has 38 tackles, 5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. In Week 13 he will face a Kansas City Chiefs team that is the 2nd worst matchup for opposing linemen. They are holding linemen to 21.2% below the league average. The Packers likely won’t be able to hang with the high-flying Chiefs and this game could be too fast-paced to allow Smith many opportunities to be fantasy-relevant.
Dexter Lawrence– Dallas Cowboys vs Seattle Seahawks
Lawrence has been a key member of a stifling Cowboys defence, but that hasn’t necessarily translated to fantasy production. He has only 25 tackles and 4 sacks on the year and if you start him you are hoping a sack makes him useful. This week against the Seattle Seahawks it will be tough for him to produce. The Seahawks are the 3rd worst matchup for opposing linemen and are holding the position to 17.5% below the league average.
Defensive Backs
Julian Blackmon– Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans
Blackmon has been great this season on his way to recording 71 tackles and 3 interceptions. In Week 13 he will square off with the Tennessee Titans who are the worst matchup for opposing defensive backs. They are holding opposing defensive backs to 17.7% below the league average and make for a nearly impossible matchup to overcome. Whether it be the play style of Will Levis or the offensive scheme the Titans run, it will prove to be a disappointing day for Blackmon.
James Bradberry– Philadelphia Eagles vs San Francisco 49ers
Bradberry is in the midst of a disappointing season for the league’s best team. He has only 35 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception on the year. This week he goes up against the San Francisco 49ers who are the 2nd worst matchup for opposing defensive backs. They are holding the position to 16.3% below the league average. Bradberry is a must-sit this week against a 49ers team that needs to be avoided at all costs.
Jalen Pitre– Houston Texans vs Denver Broncos
Pitre has produced at a mediocre level this season as he has totalled 49 tackles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception. Despite his decent production, he should be avoided this week against a Broncos defence that is ranked as the 3rd worst matchup for opposing defensive backs. They are holding the position to 15.4% below the league average and are in a prime spot to sit Pitre for better matchups.
