These running backs could be the perfect sleepers in fantasy football redraft leagues.
Finding sleepers in fantasy football leagues is incredibly difficult, especially at the running back position. Most of the elite players are taken early, leaving fantasy managers with little options late in drafts. However, these three running backs outside of the top-100 in ADP could prove to be legitimate sleepers in fantasy football redraft leagues.
All fantasy football ADP is based on FantasyPros’ overall PPR ADP for the 2024 season.
Nick Chubb, RB – Cleveland Browns (ADP: 145 Overall, RB46)
It’s still hard to believe the gruesome injury that Nick Chubb suffered last season. We’ve seen this before—a devastating injury that could alter a player’s career. Chubb has been an elite fantasy football option throughout his career, consistently averaging five yards per carry. He only has two seasons where he wasn’t a top-13 RB. The first was his rookie year (where he only started nine games) and the second was last season when he only played two games.
Every fantasy football player knows that the talent is there for Chubb to demolish his projections for this season. Yet will he be able to overcome another bad knee injury? Chubb is 28 years old and has had most of the last season and the entire offseason to heal. Early videos have shown that Chubb’s made great improvements in his recovery. If he’s able to be ready by September, Chubb is easily one of the few running backs who can be a true sleeper (and league winner) in fantasy football leagues.
Gus Edwards, RB – Los Angeles Chargers (ADP: 125 Overall, RB38)
There are multiple reasons to keep an eye on Gus Edwards this season. The Los Angeles Chargers’ offense lacks consistent touchdown scorers. Edwards, who ran in 13 TDs last season, could fill that role with ease.
While replicating that feat may be unlikely, Edwards could benefit from being the last man standing. He’s familiar with Greg Roman’s system from Baltimore. And under Jim Harbaugh, who loves to run the football, Edwards could see 300 touches if healthy. The workload will be there; his performance will depend on his health.
Blake Corum, RB – Los Angeles Rams (ADP: 117 Overall, RB35)
This pick is a longshot, but has potential.
Rookie Blake Corum is currently behind Kyren Williams on the Los Angeles Rams depth chart. Fantasy football managers who draft Williams, need to draft Corum as well.
Last season, Williams finished as the RB7 in fantasy football despite missing five games. This season, he could repeat or improve on that performance. However, he will have to deal with a similar player in Corum who may make that difficult.
Corum comes into the season with a high-end ceiling as a backup RB for fantasy purposes. If Williams misses any time, Corum will be a top-10 weekly option. The reward is too high for a player going so late in fantasy football drafts. Corum’s college stats (258 attempts for 1,245 yards with 27 touchdowns) show his potential. He just needs the opportunity, and Corum could end up as a league winner for fantasy football managers this season.
While each of these players have a reasons why they may not excel this season, there’s also a true path for success. Because of that, these running backs are great sleeper options in fantasy football redraft leagues this year.
