Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 11

fantasy football

The League Winners staff is back with another edition of Start or Sit. Before you finalize your Week 11 fantasy football lineups, see who we like and dislike this week.

Start

Justin Fields, QB – Chicago Bears (Joe O’Leary)

Don’t look now, but Justin Fields has put together back-to-back QB1 performances for fantasy football. Fresh off a bye, Fields looks to keep the momentum going against the Ravens this week. The Ravens are a middle-of-the-pack team against quarterbacks allowing 18.9 fantasy points per game. Well rested and well prepared, Justin Fields is a solid plug-and-play option this week.

Adrian Peterson, RB – Tennessee Titans (Jeremy Shulman)

I know you’re afraid of D’Onta Foreman’s usage from a week ago. Truthfully, he looked sprier than the aging Adrian Peterson. That’s not going to scare me off from AP this week. This is the reason you bid all that FAAB for ‘All Day’ weeks ago. Don’t squander it now by dropping or benching the future Hall Of Famer. I get it. Peterson is not the sexy play here, but he is a better bet to see the end zone as the Titans preferred red-zone weapon. If you’re hurting at the position, you could do a lot worse than Adrian Peterson in your flex spot this week.

Myles Gaskin, RB – Miami Dolphins (Keith James)

Myles Gaskin has been the perfect every other week running back in 2021. Gaskin’s posted double-digit points in every odd week this year. Week 11 should once again be a double-digit effort for your fantasy football team. The Jets are the worst defense in the NFL against the run. This should be a game where points are scored and Gaskin will do damage on the ground and through the air. Fire Myles Gaskin up with confidence this week.

Darnell Mooney, WR – Chicago Bears (Matthew Morris)

Don’t let the Bears Week 10 bye lull you to sleep on the waking giant that is Darnell Mooney. Mooney had his best fantasy performance in Week 9, finishing as the WR5 with 19.1 fantasy points against a tough Steelers defense.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen Justin Fields and the Bears offense unleashed. Mooney is a clear favorite target for Fields. The Bears face a Ravens defense who is 12th against wide receivers, but don’t let the matchup deter you. Mooney should see the volume to return solid WR2 or better value as the Bears look to keep up with the Ravens offense.

Mike Gesicki, TE – Miami Dolphins (Thomas Christopher)

Despite having seven targets last week, Mike Gesicki ended up with a donut for fantasy football purposes. Look for that to change against a poor New York Jets defense this week. The Jets aren’t good at covering tight ends, and Gesicki is one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the NFL. Look for him to bounce-back in a big way this week against a division rival.

Sit

Carson Wentz, QB – Indianapolis Colts (Joe O’Leary)

Carson Wentz gets the pleasure of traveling to Buffalo this week to face a stingy Bills defense. Buffalo hasn’t allowed a passing touchdown in four of their last five games. The Bills have allowed only five passing touchdowns on the season. To top it all off, Buffalo is second in the NFL allowing only 190.2 passing yards per game.

Wentz is QB18 this week according to Fantasy Pros. The following quarterbacks ranked lower I would comfortably start over Wentz this week.

  • Tua Tagovailoa
  • Jimmy Garoppolo
  • Tyrod Taylor
  • Baker Mayfield

This is a nightmare spot for Carson Wentz in Week 11. Do your best to avoid Wentz this week in SuperFlex leagues.

Russell Wilson, QB – Seattle Seahawks (Jeremy Shulman)

This one’s risky since we know Russell Wilson can make anyone – including fantasy analysts – look foolish on any given weekend. Nobody liked what they saw from Wilson last week. I’m willing to bet his miraculous early return from having a pin inserted into his broken finger isn’t quite 100% yet. Another week of healing should help Russ look better than he did against the Packers in Week 10, but a matchup against a young, swarming Arizona defense is not what the doctor ordered. If you can, I’d find a better option this week.

Michael Pittman, WR – Indianapolis Colts (Keith James)

Michael Pittman has been an excellent story for the Colts during their 5-2 resurgence. However, Pittman goes up against the top pass defense in the NFL this week versus Buffalo. Pittman saw his touchdown streak end at three straight games. He still had a lovely floor of five grabs for 77 yards. I don’t see MP making a splash this weekend, and I think he will be limited to single-digit points. If there are other options on your bench, I’d give Michael Pittman the week off.

Dan Arnold, TE – Jacksonville Jaguars (Matthew Morris)

Dan Arnold has been on an absolute tear since being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In Weeks 8-10, Arnold was the fantasy football TE3; where he saw a whopping 25 targets for 17/195 in three contests. He’s become a rare set-and-forget player in the rough tight end landscape.

However, the Jaguars play the 49ers in Week 11. They’re ninth in the NFL against tight ends, holding them to an average of 5.8 fantasy points per game. That number could be even lower if not boosted by a Tyler Higbee touchdown in Week 10. The last time Dan Arnold faced a top-10 defense against the tight end (Week 9 against Buffalo), he was held to a 4/60 line. Arnold could be in for another rough outing, and I’d be looking to stream elsewhere this week.

Laviska Shenault, WR – Jacksonville Jaguars (Thomas Christopher)

There’s no nice way to see it. Shenault has been one of the most disappointing fantasy football players this season. With DJ Chark out, many expected Laviska to step up and take over. Instead, that player has been Dan Arnold. Shenault seems to have been leap-frogged on the depth chart by Jamal Agnew as well, which only hurts things. This week they face the 49ers, and I would sit Viska for nearly anyone else on the bench.
