Welcome back League Winners! We are headed down the home stretch. For most of you, this is the final week of the fantasy football regular season. Some of you may even be starting your fantasy football playoffs in Week 14. No matter what the situation is, it’s an important week for your fantasy football teams. Our League Winners staff is here to help you with any decisions you may be facing.
Start
Jerry Jeudy, WR – Denver Broncos (Joe O’Leary)
Since returning from injury in Week 8 Jerry Jeudy leads all Denver pass-catching options in targets with 30. The targets haven’t resulted in an explosion game for fantasy football just yet, but a matchup with the Lions stands to change that. Detroit has been gashed the last two weeks by Justin Jefferson and Darnell Mooney. Week 14 could be the breakout Jerry Jeudy performance we’ve all been waiting for. Start Jeudy with confidence against Detroit.
D’onta Foreman, RB – Tennessee Titans (Jeremy Shulman)
Derrick Henry has been down for the last month. Adrian Peterson was jettisoned from the club a little over a week ago. Now, it’s D’Onta Foreman’s turn to run away with the backfield in Tenessee. Let’s consider the facts:
- The Titans appear to be getting healthier after a much-needed bye that should benefit the entire offense.
- Foreman posted 112 total yards on 20 touches against a stout Patriots D back in Week 12. Now he’s had an extra week to acclimate to the offense since being signed ahead of Week 9.
- The Jacksonville Jaguars have two wins on the season. While they could keep this one close, a positive script for the Titans is expected. I will not hesitate to start Foreman as a low-end RB2 in fantasy football this week, and neither should you.
Laquon Treadwell, WR – Jacksonville Jaguars (Matthew Morris)
It feels like we’ve been in this spot several times this season; the emergence of another leading receiver in Jacksonville. While it may not feel great, we need to follow the trends. When a top receiver emerges in Jacksonville this season, they tend to lean on them for multiple games – as seen through solid stretches from Marvin Jones and Jamal Agnew. Treadwell has finished as the WR1 in Jacksonville for the last two weeks, seeing 13 targets for 8/115. While those numbers aren’t stellar, Treadwell can be flexed in your fantasy football lineup this week against a Tennessee Titans defense allowing the second-most points to wide receivers in 2021.
Van Jefferson, WR – Los Angeles Rams (Thomas Christopher)
Since Week 7, Van Jefferson’s role in this offense changed; and if you’re wondering, that was before Robert Woods’ injury. He’s had at least 6 targets per game since Week 7, and and 7 targets in five of the last six games. Even with O’dell Beckham Jr in the offense, Jefferson remains relevant in fantasy football. Since the Rams’ Week 11 bye, he’s scored at least 16 points in PPR formats. The Cardinals are a good team, but their defense is susceptible to giving up points. Jefferson should be a safe flex option in Week 14.
Sit
Brandin Cooks WR Houston Texans (Joe O’Leary)
Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks has cooled considerably since his early-season hot start. Cooks has totaled only 8 receptions and hasn’t gone over 45 yards in his last three games. The Seahawks have been tough on opposing wide receivers lately. Seattle hasn’t allowed a touchdown to a wide receiver since late October. Cooks has a relatively safe floor as the only real passing threat for Houston, but the ceiling just isn’t there right now. I’m looking for better options in Week 14.
Kyle Pitts TE Atlanta Falcons (Jeremy Shulman)
You probably can’t sit Pitts, but you probably should despite his insane target share week in and week out. Pitts only posted a 2/13 line on six targets against Carolina back in Week 8. Now, he squares off with the Panthers again, this time in Carolina. I’m fairly certain the Panther’s young and versatile defenders will once again focus on eliminating Pitts, making players like Pat Freiermuth and Dawson Knox look like better options in Week 14.
Noah Fant TE Denver Broncos (Matthew Morris)
The tight end position is fun, isn’t it? Noah Fant was being drafted around the range of TE7 this draft season as fantasy football managers were feeling hopeful for a breakout season. Fast forward 14 weeks, and it has become clear that Fant, along with most Broncos pass-catchers, can not be trusted.
In the last two weeks, Fant has finished as the TE18 and TE30, seeing only eight targets in that span. While a matchup with the Detroit Lions may feel like a get-right opportunity, the Lions are only allowing 6.5 fantasy points to the tight end position. With Teddy Bridgewater spreading the ball around generously, Albert Okwuegbunam getting more involved, and the matchup, fantasy managers are better off streaming the position at this point.
Jalen Guyton, WR – Los Angeles Chargers (Thomas Christopher)
With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams missing Week 14 due to Covid, many fantasy football managers are rushing to grab one of the remaining Chargers wide receivers. While some think this is a good plan, I would strongly suggest pivoting to another wide receiver on a completely different team. While Guyton did have 19 PPR points last week, it’ll be much easier to bottle him up being the only option on the chargers passing attack. Don’t try to chase vacant targets with lesser talent.
