Here we are already in Week 4! It seems as though the NFL season just started. But we as fantasy players are already making the tough start and sit decisions for the season. We have our local League Winners contributors here to help with those tough start or sit decisions for Week 4 of fantasy!
Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 4 – Start
Roschon Johnson, RB – Chicago Bears vs. Denver Broncos (Mikey Cannavo)
Roschon Johnson out touched Khalil Herbert in Week 3 on 10% less snaps. Heading into Week 4, the Chicago Bears play a beaten and battered Denver Broncos team that just gave up 70 points last week. This is an amazing game for Johnson to maximize his opportunities and earn more playing time.
Adam Thielen, WR – Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings (Erika Brown)
I previewed Adam Thielen earlier in the season in my Fantasy Grandpas who can succeed in 2023 article, and so far, he has not disappointed. Although his Week 1 production was putrid, he made up for it in Weeks 2 and 3, catapulting him into the top 10 of wide receivers so far in PPR scoring. He now has a revenge game against his old team, the Vikings. So far through three weeks, the Vikings are one of the worse defenses, giving up more than 230 yards per game to wide receivers. Even with Bryce Young slinging the ball, Thielen his a high upside this week.
Josh Palmer, WR – Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders (Sheldon Hand)
Mike Williams suffered a season ending injury last week. Josh Palmer is the next guy up, not rookie Quentin Johnston. It has been Palmer on the field in three wide sets. He has been on the field an average of 59% of plays this year compared to QJ’s 22%. The Canadian saw seven targets last week and scored a touchdown. The Raiders have allowed an average of 30.2 fantasy points to WRs, which is 10th worst. Palmer is currently ranked outside of the top 36 on FantasyPros. I think he pushes for a top 24 finish this week and should be started everywhere!
Jakobi Meyers, WR – Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers (Harry Prskalo)
Jakobi Meyers has been a PPR beast while playing for the Raiders. In his two games played he has 22 targets, turning that into 16/166/2. He has been a great safety blanket for Jimmy G, and now they go against the Chargers weak defense. Plug in Meyers and wait for him to get all the catches for you.
Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 4 – Sit
Garrett Wilson, WR – New York Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Mikey Cannavo)
This one feels a little obvious, but I know there are some managers (including myself) that need to hear this. Garrett Wilson has turned into a matchup play with Zach Wilson at QB, and the Kansas City Chiefs are giving up the 5th least fantasy points to the WR position. I do not trust Zach Wilson to perform well this week, leaving me to bench Garrett Wilson in Week 4.
Marquise Brown, WR – Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (Erika Brown)
This one felt like an obvious one to me. Not because of Arizona’s offensive consistency, but moreso because of the 49ers defense. Through three games on the season, this defense has not allowed a touchdown to the wide receiver position. I expect the front 7 to handle Joshua Dobbs and send pressure on him, making more dump offs and short yard throws. While Marquise Brown has been serviceable in the last three weeks, he hasn’t been a kind of league winner on a weekly basis. His ceiling is lower because of who he is facing, so I say sit him this week.
Brian Robinson, RB – Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles (Sheldon Hand)
I hesitate to put Brian Robinson here; last time he was on our list he smashed expectations. However, this week he goes up against the top ranked defense against fantasy RBs. The Eagles are only allowing an average of 8.2 fantasy points to the RB position so far this year. We saw Antonio Gibson get 61% of the snaps last week in a game where the Commanders were playing catch up. I expect a similar situation this week, which will lead to Robinson sitting on the bench. That is where I would have him on your fantasy teams this week as well.
Breece Hall, RB – New Yok Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Harry Prskalo)
This one may be an every week thing until the Jets can figure out what to do with their QB situation. Teams simply just do not respect Zach Wilson’s throwing ability, and that is hurting Breece Hall in fantasy football. Keep Breece on your bench until you see any reason on why he should be starting.
