To help prepare you for Week 6, our staff members are here to help you with any tough start or sit decisions you may have. We’re missing Joe this week, but he will be back in Week 7 without a hitch! Let’s take a look at some players who should be plugged into your fantasy football lineup and a few who should be sitting on your bench this week.
Start
Myles Gaskin, RB – Miami Dolphins (Jeremy Shulman)
Maybe this one isn’t controversial, but Myles Gaskin still carries a Fantasy Pros ECR of RB25 on the week. After going off last week through the air against a stout Tampa front, Gaskin finds easier sledding against the Jaguars. Their defensive unit has given up the 7th most fantasy points to the position. Even if Malcolm Brown becomes a factor, I still like Gaskin to score and carry the load in what should be a run-heavy second-half script. I’m banking on RB1 upside again this week with a mid-RB2 floor.
Tee Higgins, WR – Cincinnati Bengals (Keith James)
He has to pay off eventually right? The worst nightmare has come true for Tee Higgins fantasy football managers. The Ja’Marr Chase alpha receiver takeover is complete. This leaves Tee and Tyler Boyd as clear second options. I like Tee to have his way with the Detroit defense. The Bengals are on the edge of offensive domination. A big part of taking a next step will be for Joe Burrow to get his uber-talented WR2 going.
Dan Arnold, TE – Jacksonville Jaguars (Matthew Morris)
In Week 5, Urban Meyer and the Jaguars made it clear why they traded for Dan Arnold. They welcomed him with open arms to the tune of eight targets and a line of 6/64. He out-targeted Laviska Shenault and Marvin Jones. It is clear that Arnold will have a valuable role on this offense. In Week 6 he gets a matchup with the Dolphins defense, who are 14th against the tight end position. All this while facing mostly sub-par TE competition, other than Darren Waller, who they held to 5/54 in Week 3. Dan Arnold can be fired up with confidence in this matchup, and may still be sitting on your waiver wire.
Allen Robinson, WR – Chicago Bears (Thomas Christopher)
Allen Robinson has been ice cold this season, but there’s got to be a breakout game. This week against against the Packers is that game. The Bears will be on their third string RB and will likely be playing from behind. Robinson is an elite receiver, and it would behoove Matt Nagy to feed his only star player. AR12 should see a healthy dose of targets, and I’m projecting a 10-point floor for him this week in fantasy football.
Sit
Aaron Rodgers, QB – Green Bay Packers (Jeremy Shulman)
Against the division-rival Bears in Chicago, I’m not comfortable starting Aaron Rodgers. You may not have a better option at QB, so I understand if you have to roll ARod out there. I’m expecting a much lower output than usual and a finish outside the top-15 QBs in fantasy football. Rodgers has finished QB14 or worse in 3 of 5 games this season. Against a Chicago D that has looked good, Rodgers should be more average than excellent. With Vegas pegging this matchup as the fourth-lowest point total on the 14-game slate, I’m out on Rodgers this Sunday.
Chris Carson/Alex Collins, RB – Seattle Seahawks (Keith James)
I want nothing to do with the Seattle backfield this week. If they are going to have any chance against the Steelers they will have to throw the ball to keep up. Seattles’s defense has been atrocious and the Steelers should put up points. The Steelers are also ranked 9th in rushing defense, and have only allowed one rushing touchdown through five games. I’m fading either Carson or Collins if I can this week.
T.J. Hockenson, TE – Detroit Lions (Matthew Morris)
In the past three weeks, it has been vehemently clear that things are not alright with TJ Hockenson. After starting the year looking like a league winner, Hockenson has fallen from grace, with only 8/74/0 in the last three weeks. In Week 6, Hockenson faces a Bengals defense that ranks 6th in fantasy points allowed to the tight end position; averaging only 3.4 fantasy points allowed per game. Further, Hockenson has been limited in practice this week with a nagging knee injury. I would be more comfortable starting guys like Dan Arnold or Ricky Seals-Jones this week and hope we see an improvement in production out of Hockenson in the coming weeks.
A.J. Dillon, RB – Green Bay Packers (Thomas Christopher)
AJ Dillon has seen back-to-back fantasy-relevant games, but that trend should end in Week 6. The Chicago Bears defense won’t be beat by a bruising running back, as we saw them bottle up the Las Vegas Raiders last week with ease. Dillon has yet to pass a 40% snap count, and there isn’t reason to believe game-script will allow him to see more touches. I’m expecting less than 10 points from Dillon this week in what should be a close, low-scoring affair.
