Fantasy Football: Start or Sit – Week 17

fantasy football start sit

If you’ve made it this far, you’re likely playing in the championship game of your fantasy football league. Or, you’re trying not to win the toilet bowl. Whatever the case, your start and sit decisions are more important than ever. To keep you covered week in and week out, The League Winners are here to help you with any start or sit questions you have. Spending the week agonizing over who to start in your flex? Put your mind to rest and rely on us to do the dirty work for you. If you missed last week’s picks, you can see them here.

Start

Jakobi Meyers, WR – New England Patriots (Thomas Christopher)

When Jakobi Meyers plays more than 80 percent of his snaps, he’s nearly a must-start option in fantasy football. In a tough matchup against Cincinnati last week, he blew up for 6 catches, 83 yards and a touchdown. This week he gets the Dolphins who are without Tua Tagovailoa. I’m expecting this to be a close game and for Meyers to make some big plays as the Patriots WR1 in this game.

Cam Akers, RB – Los Angeles Rams (Aaron St. Denis)

Cam Akers has seen his share of controversy this season, but has come back into fantasy relevance just in time for the playoffs. In the finals Akers will square off against a Chargers run defense that allows the 6th most points per game to opposing running backs, a whopping 24.99. With no competition for touches, Cam should rack up another RB1 finish when it matters most.

Tyler Allgeier, RB – Atlanta Falcons (Jeremy Shulman)

Since their late-season bye, Atlanta has proven that they trust Allgeier to carry the load. At the very least, they’re seeing what they have in their rookie back in a lost season. Either way, Allgeier is primed to put up fantasy football points yet again this week against the lowly Arizona run defense. This could easily be a positive game script at home given all of the injuries facing the Cardinals. Over his last two games, Allgeier is averaging 20 touches for 116 all-purpose yards while also being a threat to score. He’s someone you can trust in the finals to get the job done this week.

Russell Wilson, QB – Denver Broncos (Sheldon Hand)

Brian Robinson, RB – Washington Commanders (Harry Prskalo)

Brian Robinson has everything written in his favor this week. His teammate, Antonio Gibson, was just ruled out and now Robinson will have the full workload to himself. Not only is he going to have the whole workload, but he is going against the Cleveland Browns this week. They are a bottom-8 in rushing defense, where teams just run all over them. B-Rob is a guy I am putting into all of my fantasy football championship lineups.

Sit

Davante Adams, WR – Las Vegas Raiders (Thomas Christopher)

It probably sounds crazy to sit Adams given his WR4 status on the year – and I’ll likely eat crow on this – but without Derek Carr and against a tough 49ers team, I’m sitting him where it matters most. Jarrett Stidham is likely to struggle mightily. While I do expect Adams to get some looks, I think 10 points is the ceiling for him in this game. That just isn’t enough for fantasy football managers in a championship game. If I have a better matchup, I’m starting them over Adams and holding my breath.

D’Onta Foreman, RB – Carolina Panthers (Aaron St. Denis)

Dallas Goedert, TE – Philadelphia Eagles (Jeremy Shulman)

Josh Jacob, RB – Las Vegas Raiders (Sheldon Hand)

Amari Cooper, WR – Cleveland Browns (Harry Prskalo)

This Browns offense has not been what they thought it would be with Deshaun Watson back. More importantly, Amari Cooper has been consistently letting down fantasy football managers. Him and Watson have not clicked since he came back, and I do not see that happening this week either. Cooper was banged up this week with a couple injuries, and he has a tough Commanders defense to go against. The Commander’s defense has allowed an average of 198 passing yards a game, and that ranks top seven in the league. I am sitting Amari this week.
