Fantasy Football: Start & Sit – Week 7 Monday Night Football

Week 7 isn’t over yet! I’m back for another fantasy football start or sit segment for Monday night! This season is flying by, and I’m here to help you win one week at a time. This piece will be covering players playing on Monday night only. Let’s take a look at some players that should definitely be in your lineups this week, and others who won’t make the cut.

Start

Marquez Callaway

Marquez Callaway has caught up to the hype after high expectations from preseason dominance. Over the last three weeks he’s emerged as the Saints WR1. He totaled 10 catches on 15 targets for 200 yards and three touchdowns during that span. He faces a great matchup against one of the worst secondaries in the league. Callaway is a solid WR3/flex fantasy football option this week.

Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston showed out in Week 5 against the Washington Football Team. He threw for 279 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Coming off a bye week, the Saints are well rested and should look to go ahead early in this game. The Seahawks are a bottom five team against the pass, while also ranking in the bottom five in interceptions. This matchup favors Jameis and the Saints heavily.

Saints D/ST

If Russell Wilson was the quarterback for the Seahawks this weekend, the Saints wouldn’t make this list. He isn’t though, and Geno Smith will be taking his place for the second week. Smith is susceptible to turnovers, and I expect the Saints to bring a ton of pressure. New Orleans’ defense should overwhelm Smith Monday night.

Sit

Tyler Lockett

With Geno Smith as the Seahawks starting quarterback, I have little confidence in Tyler Lockett. Although Lockett is a tremendous talent, last week’s game script against the Steelers didn’t give me anything positive to look at. Most of Geno Smith’s throws were short, and Lockett didn’t receive much attention. Against another solid secondary, I don’t expect much out of Lockett. He remains a boom or bust player this week. If you have to start him, hope for one huge play from him. He’s best seen as a Flex play this week.

D.K. Metcalf

Just like Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf finds himself on this list. It’s sad to see, but it’s not his fault. The matchup against New Orleans isn’t appealing. As mentioned previously, the offense with Geno Smith under center did not look great against the Steelers last week. Fantasy football managers, including myself, are hoping the offense looks a bit better. Most teams probably can’t afford to sit Metcalf, but if you somehow have a better option to plug in, I suggest doing so. For now, consider Metcalf a fringe WR2 with a low ceiling.

Seahawks RBs

Alex Collins had a great showing last week against the Steelers. He received 20 carries for 101 yards and scored. He’s unfortunately dealing with a glute/hip injury. Although he has a chance to play, I would avoid starting him or any other Seahawks’ RB against a tough Saints defense. The likelihood of another dominant game out of Collins or DeeJay Dallas is slim.
