Fantasy Football: Start & Sit – Week 7 Thursday Night Football

fantasy football

Week 7 is here! The season is flying by, and I’m here to help you win one week at a time! Every week I’ll be here to give your fantasy football Start and Sit answers for each Thursday night game. Let’s take a look at some players that should definitely be in your lineups this week, and others who wont make the cut.

Start

Courtland Sutton

Courtland Sutton has regained his status as a reliable WR2. In his last two games, he’s had 15 receptions for 214 yards and two touchdowns on 25 targets! He faces the Browns this week, who haven’t played well against receivers this season. They’ve given up the third-most passing touchdowns in the NFL (14), and rank 26th in fantasy points allowed to opposing WRs. In a great matchup against the Browns, start Sutton without hesitation.

D’Ernest Johnson

This one is pretty self explanatory. Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are both out this week. D’Ernest Johnson is the next man up for touches, and the Browns run the ball a ton. Baker Mayfield will not play as well, and Case Keenum will take his place. The Browns will most likely remain in their run-heavy offense. They’ve run the ball on 50% of their plays this season! That’s good for third most in the league, only behind the Saints (54%) and the Bears (51%). Furthermore, Johnson should receive the touches needed to put up solid RB2 numbers for fantasy football.

Tim Patrick

As I mentioned above, the Browns secondary has not done well against opposing receivers. Tim Patrick is a big body, who is a red zone threat at all times. He’s scored three times this season, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he catches another. He’s the WR2 in Denver with Jeudy still out, and averages just over 5.5 targets per game. In six games, Patrick has had five targets inside the 20. That’s good for a 17% target share in that area for his team. Look for him to make some noise against Cleveland, as a solid WR3 play this week.

Sit

Javonte Williams/Melvin Gordon

Williams and Gordon are a solid one-two punch out of the backfield, but they’re up against a defensive line that ranks in the top-6 in run defense. Neither back is reliable this week due to a 50/50 split in carries, and the tough defensive matchup just mentioned. Williams and Gordon are touchdown reliant RBs this week. Both RBs are, at most, flex plays. I suggest benching them if you have other options available.

Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham has been on my “avoid at all costs” list long before the season started, and I’m sticking to it. He’s not worth the risk of starting, as he’s totaled double digit points just twice this season. In addition, Case Keenum will start for the first time this season which also doesn’t bode well for Odell. As of writing this, he’s listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Avoid him if he plays. He’s no more than a very risky WR3.
