Football is back. Fantasy football and NFL fans alike couldn’t be more excited. We have had to wait all year for this to come, and man do we have a great first game to watch.
This week’s game will be played by the defending champions, the Los Angeles Rams. They are going against most people’s choice to take that crown from them, the Buffalo Bills. This game will be high-scoring from start to finish as these are the two most pass-heavy teams in the league.
Buffalo Bills Preview
The Bills have opened up their week one matchup as being the favorite to win this game. They have the offensive power to do so with WR Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis catching passes from Josh Allen. Both of those WRs will look to do work against the Ram’s secondary; and they do have a tough matchup. Diggs will be defended by Jalen Ramsey and it will be a great matchup to watch. Meanwhile, the fantasy football world will have their eye on Gabe Davis. He has been talked about all offseason and it sounds like the Bills know how good he is going to be.
Los Angeles Rams Preview
The defending champs are running it back as a whole; losing only Von Miller and Robert Woods. They had a very strong free agency bringing in Bobby Wagner and Allen Robinson. The Stafford-Kupp combo took the league by storm last year, and now year two in this offense can be even scarier for opposing defenses.
The Rams have a powerhouse on both sides of the ball, but there’s one X-factor that no one else in the league has – Aaron Donald. He is looking to win his fourth Defensive Player of the Year award, and he is going to wreck havoc against the Bills.
On the offensive side of the ball, every fantasy football player will be looking at Allen Robinson. He had a rollercoaster of a season last year with the Chicago Bears. Now he is given the best QB he has ever played with in Matthew Stafford. This duo can start off very hot, and the Rams could easily have the best WR duo in the league.
Players to Watch
Buffalo Bills
MVP: Josh Allen
- Allen is a one of a kind player. He can throw, he can run, and he is smart enough to get you exactly where he wants you. Allen is the favorite to win MVP this season and we will see exactly why that is to start the year off. He has a tough matchup going against the Rams. He has star WR Stefon Diggs to throw to all game and emerging star Gabe Davis. This offense will be loaded with fantasy football points this week and you are going to love it if you roster any of these guys.
Sleeper: Isaiah McKenzie
- McKenzie is the sleeper of this game that I really think has a chance to boom. All we have heard from the Bills this summer is that McKenzie has been that guy. He beat out Jamison Crowder for the slot role, and he can be a baller this week. While the defense will have their eye on Diggs and Davis, McKenzie is a great fantasy football sleeper candidate this week.
Los Angeles Rams
MVP: Cooper Kupp
- Kupp is one of four WRs ever to win the triple crown. That is very hard to do, yet he has a chance to do even better this year. The Super Bowl champs had success all year because of the special Stafford-Kupp connection. This is a big game for them, and they are going to go right where they left off and feed Kupp. He just had one of the best WR seasons of all time, and he is the MVP of this team.
Sleeper: Allen Robinson
- This is a prove it year for Robinson. He is an elite WR who hasn’t had good QB play throughout his career. He is going to have to build a connection with Stafford; and him and Kupp will be hard to stop. The Rams are a pass first team and this is a great matchup for him. While Kupp is going to be the eye of that defense, he has a great opportunity to explode for a huge game this week.
This game is going to provide us two things: The joy of the NFL finally being back, and fantasy football points. I can’t wait to see if Josh Allen is too much for the Rams to handle; and on the other hand, the Bills will have a very hard task trying to take down the defending champs.
