Ahead of their final game against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, multiple players for the FAU Owls are reportedly set to hit the transfer portal after the season.
FAU Owls players hit the portal
According to ON3’s Pete Nakos, tight ends Wyatt Sullivan and Zeke Moore are set to potentially leave the Owls after the 2024 season. Moore is a true sophomore player, while Sullivan is a redshirt sophomore.

As if that wasn’t enough, true freshman Kasen Weisman, who was a starter for the Owls this season, also announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. Weisman was an incoming transfer himself from Colorado. The freshman quarterback chose Florida Atlantic as a way to reset after the crash course he was given with the Buffaloes.

Additionally, it was reported that running back Zuberi Mobley is entering the portal and will be departing the Boca Raton-based program. And although not starters like the rest, FAU will lose their backup long snapper and one of their place kickers to the portal as well.

What the Owls are losing
Mobley started the year hot and finished with good numbers. He had 490 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns while adding 86 yards as a receiver. However, he soon lost a good amount of touches to fellow running back C.J. Campbell Jr. and suffered an injury that forced him out of action. In this past week’s game, he began to split more work with the likes of Gemari Sands and even Xavier Terrell.
Meanwhile, Sullivan and Moore offer plenty of potential as tight ends. However, they were rarely used in a spread-based offensive scheme this season. Sullivan specifically showed promise in 2024, with nice hands, run-after-the-catch ability, and solid blocking.
All of these players are likely to be recruited by other teams, potentially even in the AAC. Mobley can, at minimum, give a burst to a backfield and could even lead one in a best-case scenario. Sullivan and Moore can be both in-line blockers or make plays as pass catchers. And Weisman should be able to compete for a starting position in the right situation.
For FAU, though, the departures are players that must be replaced in 2025. With more transfers likely on the way, it will be fascinating to see how the Owls navigate the waters of their coaching search and their roster turnover in the offseason.
More to come?
Despite a report about freshman safety CJ Heard‘s departure, that was later debunked. However, on top of the transfers, multiple recruits have flipped their commitment from Florida Atlantic after the murky situation surrounding the coaching staff.
Whether or not more players decide to leave Florida Atlantic remain to be seen. However, it’s certain that the Owls must be able to replenish their losses this offseason in what will be a pivotal 2025 season for FAU.
