So many QB changes are happening as we head into week 9 of the regular season. Will Levis was a bright spot in week 8 throwing for four touchdowns. With so many good players on a bye, check out the positional GameDay Edge matchup tool by The League Winners to gain you an edge on your weekly fantasy football matchups.
The GameDay Edge tool combines volume and productivity by players into one matchup score. As the season goes on, the tool will gain better correlation. The tool is meant to help uncover matchups that might have the potential to boom which are not evident intuitively. It’s early in the season and teams are still incorporating some new players and/or schemes. By now, the sample size will help correlate better. Use this as a gauge to identify high-volume plays. Let’s look at some interesting matchups for Week 8.
Week 9 GameDay Edge Passing Game Tidbits
- The Houston Texans rank third in passing yards per completion with 11.6 yards per completion. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are allowing the 6th highest number of completions per game at mediocre passing yards per completion. CJ Stroud should continue his run for OROY and look for one of the WRs to boom in week 9.
- It’s Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys week. The Philadelphia Eagles have been allowing the 7th highest fantasy points to opposing QBs. Most teams cannot run on the vaunted Eagles’ DL and are usually playing catch-up in the second half. Look for Dak to have another top-5 finish this week.
- The Baltimore Ravens vs Seattle Seahawks features two very good defenses. In the past three weeks, both teams are only allowing 15.3 and 15.7 points per game. Both teams are in the top ten in allowing the fewest passing yards per attempt and completion with the Ravens leading the league in both categories. This could turn into a field goal battle. Again Baltimore has an advantage in red zone scoring both from an offense perspective and a defense perspective.
Week 9 GameDay Edge Rushing Game Tidbits
- The Browns have the rushing matchup of the week as they are set to face the Arizona Cardinals. I am high on Kareem Hunt and Jerome Ford this week especially in DFS or one-and-done leagues if both play. Cleveland still ranks first overall in rushing attempts per game.
- Alvin Kamara could end up as the overall RB1 this week. Go check the RB RCV SCORE here. The Bears have allowed the most yards and touchdowns to opposing running backs via receptions. Kamara has the highest ceiling of all running backs this week. ..
- The Indianapolis Colts will have success running the ball against the Carolina Panthers defense. The Panthers’ defense is not good against the rush even though Houston struggled in week 8. Just looking at the last three weeks, Carolina still ranks third in fantasy points given up to running backs. Both Taylor and Moss should perform as high-end RB2s with one being and RB 1 depending on the touchdown split.
