Have you ever had a fantasy football league where your team was so good that you struggled to decide who to start each week? The annoyance of having a great team and somehow always benching the best player each week can really get to you. If you’re like me, you would complain about wanting your league to make it where your best players automatically started. This is where Best Ball comes in.
Best Ball is my preferred style for most fantasy leagues. In a Best Ball league, your top players each week will automatically be started!
Worried you’ll lose to your brother this week because you forgot to put Cooper Kupp in your lineup after his Bye Week? Forgetta ’bout it! He’s already in over that bye-week filler George Pickens. In fact, so is that random DJ Chark who went for 4 receptions, 51 yards, and a touchdown. Doesn’t that feel great? No need to set your lineup each week!
Where to play Best Ball?
Most fantasy football sites have an option for Best Ball. However, Underdog Fantasy is probably the most popular. Underdog is a betting site, but offers yearly Best Ball leagues where you draft your team and forget about it till you win. No waivers, no trades, no worries! They offer different levels of cost for leagues from $3 to $100. The gem of Underdog is their BestballMania. A yearly competition with thousands of entries and millions of dollars in prizes!

Not looking to spend a dime on a league or live in a state where you can’t use Underdog? Fear not! Sleeper App has a great system for best ball leagues. You won’t be able to set a lineup, but it will give you an example of what your best lineup may look like.

This may not be the prettiest of lineups, but there are another 18 players and 5 Devy on my bench.
Conclusion
I’ll talk more about my strategy for Best Ball leagues in a follow-up article. For now, I’ll leave you with one advice. If you go out and try a best ball league, fill your bench with wide receivers that are second or third on their team. Those random WRs that could catch a deep ball for a touchdown or who fill in for an injured starter could end up being week winners. After all, we all want some #LeagueWinners.
