We all know what fantasy football IDP players to add or to look out for in free agency and in the NFL Draft. Now it’s time to look at the other end of the spectrum. Yes, it’s time to review the sell candidate list for the 2021 season.
It’s early, as we are only in April. The 2021 NFL Draft is just two days away and we have no idea what surprises that will hold for us. However, now is a good time to start thinking about some IDP players that you were on the fence about, or ones that just had surprisingly good seasons.
Below are three IDP sell candidates for the 2021 fantasy football season due to their currently high ADP. Let’s dive in.
IDP Sell Candidates
Zach Cunningham HOU – Zach Cunningham‘s current ADP has him ranked seventh overall. Now, he had quite the year in 2020. He finished third overall in total fantasy points behind just Devin White and Roquan Smith.
It was a surprised to see him that high on the fantasy point total list given the reputation of the Texans in recent years. Drafted in 2017 in the second round, Cunningham has failed to live up to those lofty premium pick expectations.
The Houston Texans have new head coach in David Culley, along with a new defensive coordinator in Lovie Smith. They also signed both Jordan Jenkins and Christian Kirksey during free agency. For fantasy purposes, this does not bode well for Cunningham. Having played in 85 percent of the snaps last season he will now have to compete with Jenkins and Kirksey for snap counts.
Cunningham is off my fantasy radar as a late round draft option. He can be a viable weekly flyer if injuries occur, or if you are in deeper IDP leagues. Do not go for the bait and select him high in your IDP drafts just based on last year production alone. There are so many variables that it will make it hard for him and fantasy owners to garner the 2020 type of production again.

Tremaine Edmunds Buf – Tremaine Edmunds has a current IDP ADP of 8.0. That is insanely high for someone who has never cracked the top 10 in fantasy football production. The best year Edmunds has had so far was his rookie season in 2018, when he was ranked 14th in fantasy production. That year Edmunds had a career best in tackles with 121.
Edmonds finished the 2020 season ranking at 40th overall. I just don’t see a legitimate reason as to how his current ADP is so high.
The Buffalo Bills re-signed Matt Milano in the off-season, so it’s not like Edmunds was set to be the lone ranger in the linebacking group. Deion Jones, Fred Warner, and Patrick Queen are all guys who I would take over Edmonds everyday and twice on Sunday in IDP drafts.
Steer clear and don’t fall for the hype. Edmunds is a solid player and has a niche role in the Buffalo defense. However, let’s not put him as tier 2 IDP player as he is currently ranked right now. There is so much better IDP talent out there that you can afford to sit and wait. There is nothing like finding late rounds gems especially in IDP drafts.
Eric Wilson PHI – Eric Wilson had a career year in 2020. He finished with a whopping 122 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 3 sacks. He finished 11th in total fantasy points just behind Bobby Wagner and T.J. Watt.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed Wilson to a one-year deal worth at $2.75 million. Looking at it financially, it is a great for the Eagles. However, from pure fantasy football IDP relevancy, I just don’t trust Wilson to repeat the top 15 level of IDP play he had last year.
Mike Zimmer is a defensive mastermind and gets the most out of his players. With the Eagles new coaching staff led by Nick Sirianni, I just don’t know what to expect as they are an unknown commodity right now.
The move to Philly leads me to worry about how the team will be able to use Wilson and getting him to reproduce those monster numbers from last season. As of now, I will be looking to leave Wilson off IDP draft radars, if he was on any in the first place.
Conclusion
There are so many things that can happen between now and the start of training camps. Keep things in perspective and don’t get caught by bait when it comes to ADP rankings. Continue to follow us and we’ll be sure to keep you informed as the fantasy football draft season gets closer!
