The deal that has felt inevitable has finally come to fruition. Star wide receiver Davante Adams has been traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Jets. Reuniting with his former quarterback from Green Bay in Aaron Rodgers, Adams requested a trade two weeks ago and the move has finally been made. The Raiders receive a conditional 2025 third round selection that could turn into a second round pick depending on Adams’ (and the Jets’) performance. New York will also eat all of Adams’ contract following the move.

Davante Adams to the Jets – Reunited and it feels so good
With the Jets, Adams is now reunited with Rodgers, who the wide receiver spent eight years with in Green Bay before Adams made the switch to Sin City.
The move to the Jets undoubtedly makes the New York offense more dynamic, however, Jets third-year receiver Garrett Wilson likely sees a drop in targets with Adams’ arrival. The trade also moves Allen Lazard into the slot, which is where he succeeds at.
For the Jets, the team is trying to maximize a potential Super Bowl window while appeasing their former four-time NFL MVP quarterback. However, given the defensive struggles, the Jets may need Adams just to help put up points.
A Raiders rebuild?
For the Raiders, this trade seems to signify a potential move into a rebuild. With no long-term answer at quarterback, this will free up a lot of cap space for Las Vegas to work with in the upcoming free agency periods.
Beyond that, if that draft pick does become a second round selection, it could become a massive benefit to Las Vegas. It could be used as a potential trade chip in the near-future, or during the draft. And if not, having a second round selection in and of itself is always a great asset to have in a rebuild.
